Pro Rata Teacher Appointments 2025-2026
Applications are invited for the following positions which may arise within City of Dublin ETB for the 2025-2026 academic session as follows. Pro Rata Teacher Appointments 2025-2026 A person appointed as a Pro-Rata Teacher (PRT) will be offered a contract for a set number of hours each week over the full school year. The contract will commence no later than 1st November 2025 and will run until 31st August 2026. All vacancies are subject to the Director of Redeployment agreeing to the posts being filled, following the completion of the Redeployment Scheme. All appointments are subject to assessment, confirmation and approval of academic qualifications for the jobs as advertised, confirmation of Teaching Council registration, confirmation of medical fitness to work and final sign off by the Chief Executive City of Dublin ETB. A number of the posts advertised are Specific Purpose, this means that they are there to provide cover for a teacher on officially approved leave e.g. career-break, job-share, secondment or to cover a teacher who has been internally reassigned within City of Dublin ETB. The appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract basis for a period until 31 December 2027, subject to a probationary period of 6 months, for the implementation of the PEACEPLUS Programme. Duties: The duties of the office are to give to the local authority and (a) (b) Such other local authorities or bodies for which the Chief Executive, for the purposes of the Local Government Acts, is Chief Executive, and to any other local authority or body with which an agreement has been made by the local authority or by any of the authorities or bodies mentioned in sub-paragraph (a) of this paragraph, under the general direction and control of the Chief Executive or of such other officers as the Chief Executive may from time to time determine, such appropriate services of an administrative, supervisory and advisory nature as are required for the exercise and performance of any of its powers, duties and functions as may be delegated to him or her by the Chief Executive from time to time and shall include the duty of deputising for other officers of the local authority. Salary: The Salary scale for the post of PEACEPLUS Monitoring & Development Officer, applicable from 1st March 2025, is as follows (aligned to the Grade V – Staff Officer Scale: €51,210, €52,739, €54,301, €55,895, €57,501, €59,373 (LSI 1), €61,252 (LSI 2) Entry point to this scale will be determined in accordance with relevant Departmental Circulars. Offers of appointment to persons who are not serving local authority employees will be based on the minimum of this scale. Working Hours: The successful candidate’s normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week. The role will require flexibility around working hours and evening and weekend work will arise in order to effectively deliver this programme. A system of ‘Time in Lieu’ will be in operation to reflect this. Overtime will not be paid. The Council reserves the right to alter hours of work from time to time. All hours of work will be subject to and recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 and the Organisation of Working Time Act (Regulations) 2001. Canteen Attendant Sporadic (Occasional)
GENERAL INFORMATION Clare County Council/ Comhairle Contae an Chláir is the authority responsible for Local Government in County Clare. The corporate headquarters are located at Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis and there are four Municipal Districts (Ennis, Shannon, Killaloe, and West Clare) which are supported through area offices in Ennis, Scarriff, Shannon, Ennistymon and Kilrush. There are 28 elected members, approximately 990 staff and an annual operating budget of €192 million in 2025. Clare County Council provides a diverse range of services across a large geographic area. Key services areas include planning, Local Enterprise Office, community development, transportation, motor tax, water, environment, emergency services along with housing, libraries, and sports & amenities, property management, derelict sites, and vacant homes. These operations are supported by internal services which include ICT, corporate, finance and human resource functions. There is a diverse demographic across urban and rural communities with tourism bringing seasonal changes in population and activity in the county. The Shannon estuary, Shannon Airport, industrial zones, and geographic location between larger urban areas, coupled with the unique landscape and heritage add to the diversity of activity in the County. Local democracy is strengthened through the Municipal Districts and changes in legislation and regulation have placed greater emphasis on the role of the Local Authority in driving economic activity, ensuring accountability, accessibility and innovation while placing the customer and the community to the fore of service delivery. THE COMPETITION Clare County Council is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the above competition. Clare County Council will, following the interview process, form a panel for the post of Canteen Attendant from which future relevant vacancies may be filled subject to sanction approval from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Positions will be offered in order of merit as per the panel. This panel will exist for 12 months and may be extended for a further period of 6-12 months at the discretion of the Chief Executive. Occasional vacancies may also occur from time to time due to sick leave or annual leave and successful candidates will be contacted in order of merit as per the panel in order to fill these vacancies. Salary: The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. Holders of the post will be paid at the appropriate point on the salary scale in accordance with the relevant Department Circular. Where the appointee has been serving elsewhere in the public service in an analogous grade and pay-scale and will be moving without break to another part of the public sector at an analogous grade, the appointment may be made at the appointee’s current point of scale. The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Starting pay for new entrants to the sector will be at the minimum of the scale. The current salary scale applicable to the post is €16.88 per hour (October 2024) Working Hours & Annual Leave: When there is a requirement to provide sporadic cover for absences of existing Canteen Attendants, this can be at irregular intervals and often at short notice. Cover hours may vary and may fall between 08:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday. Clare County Council’s holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Granting of annual leave, payment for annual leave and arrangements for public holidays will be governed by the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 as amended. The annual leave applicable to this post will be 8% of the hours worked in any one year. The Council reserves the right to alter the number of hours worked each day/each week and/or the times at or the days on which the hours are to be worked. The post-holder will be given as much notice as is reasonably practicable of any change in the schedule of hours worked. Clare County Council’s holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Granting of annual leave, payment for annual leave and arrangements for public holidays will be governed by the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 as amended.
