Senior Psychotherapist WTE
The purpose of this post is to support and provide a comprehensive therapeutic service to individuals and families affected by child sexual abuse, provided by The Alders Unit, as an integral member of the Barnahus East multidisciplinary team. The Alders Unit provides an assessment and therapy service for children and families affected by child sexual abuse (CSA). Children, residing in the catchment area (North Dublin city and county) can be referred to the service up to their 18th birthday. The Unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team including members from psychology, social work, play therapy, and psychotherapy. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Alders Unit is also committed to ensuring ongoing professional development, training opportunities and supervision for all team members. There is a commitment to ongoing service review and evaluation and research interests are actively encouraged. The Alders Unit is headed by a Clinical Director who has overall responsibility for the workings of the Unit. The Barnahus service is being established in Dublin as an eastern regional service. The Barnahus model is a multi-disciplinary and interagency intervention responding to CSA that is delivered in a child-friendly setting. The model offers forensic interviews for children from approximately 3 to 18 years of age that are carried out according to an evidence based protocol; medical evaluation for forensic investigative purposes as well as to ensure the child’s physical well-being and recovery; therapeutic support for the child and family; and assessment of protection needs of the child victim and siblings in the family. Children’s Health Ireland is leading out on Barnahus East and is recruiting a senior psychotherapist to join the Barnahus East multidisciplinary team, initially based at The Alders Unit at Connolly Hospital. Essential Criteria: · A postgraduate qualification in psychotherapy and accreditation with a relevant professional psychotherapy body And · At least five years previous experience working therapeutically in a clinical setting, including time spent in training And · The ability to provide clinical supervision And · Experience of working with children who have experienced sexual abuse And · Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team And · Possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability to discharge satisfactorily the duties of the office.
