Neuro-physiologist, Staff Grade, University Hospital
Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest acute hospital in the country. The hospital is a primary teaching hospital with close alliances to University College Cork (UCC), nursing, medical and allied health professional training. The hospital also plays a central role in the management of co-located services on-site. CUH is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland and the only Level 1 Trauma Centre in the country – an accreditation given with the presence of 40 different medical and surgical specialities delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Cancer Services, and Emergency Medicine. CUH is the tertiary referral Centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra-regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional Centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional Centre for a total population of 1.1 million. CUH now has 800 beds following the completion of the transfer of Cardiac and Renal services to the recently constructed Cardiac Renal Centre. The hospital currently employs 3,400 staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in UCC. CUH provides the only consultant lead clinical neurophysiology service outside of Dublin. Our neurophysiology service is unique in that we provide all aspects- NCS/EMG (adult and Paediatric), EEG (adult, Paediatric, neonatal, ICU, telemetry, sleep-deprived and routine), evoked potentials, small fibre testing and intraoperative neuromonitoring and autonomic testing. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in protecting sensitive data and infrastructure from evolving cyber threats and AI as part of the eHealth Director/ Assistant National Director’s office. The post will play a key role in managing the region’s security operations programme including, but not limited to, the acquisition and oversight of endpoint protection solutions, mobile security requirements, internet proxy, filter and reporting services, cross platform encryption solutions and training. Clinical Nurse Specialist/CNM Community Infectious Diseases
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role in Community Infectious Diseases (ID) encompasses comprehensive management of blood-borne viruses, including HIV and hepatitis, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and the management of other conditions requiring ID input. This position is essential for ensuring the highest standards of care for patients requiring management of these conditions. The CNS will actively identify individuals not accessing care through rapid testing and provide peer support to facilitate their engagement in treatment. Additionally, the role involves developing nurse liaison links to enhance testing and linkage to care for high-risk groups, such as the homeless, prisoners, and people who inject drugs. Acting as a clinical resource, the CNS will provide specialised advice, education, and support to healthcare professionals and patients, promoting health literacy and treatment adherence.
