<h1></h1><h2>Self-employed people will now be able to access social welfare payments such as jobseekers allowance as long as they contribute enough PRSI payments under the Jobseekers Bill that passed through the houses of the Oireachtas yesterday.</h2><h1></h1><h2>The Bill will now go before President Michael D Higgins where it will be officially signed into law and is expected to come into force fully in November.</h2>Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty said in a statement: “When the economy crashed in 2008, many suffered. Self-employed traders such as plumbers, electricians and painters all around the country suddenly found themselves with no work and with very little support from the State.“This new scheme will rectify that situation and create more fairness in our system of supports for those who create jobs for themselves and others.”&lt;ad&gt;Details of the Bill were announced back in April as follows; The Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty T.D. announced the introduction of a new social insurance benefit scheme for the self-employed from this November. The new scheme of Jobseekers Benefit (Self-Employed) will support those who lose their self-employment and are covered by social insurance. This new initiative will provide assurance to people setting up or running their own business that the State is there to support them if their efforts to create employment and an income for their families and employees suffer as a consequence of their business ceasing. Arrangements are currently underway in the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection to ensure the necessary legislation is in place for the new scheme and that the administrative and technical solutions are in place in advance of November for the operation of this scheme.&lt;ad&gt;Speaking on the importance of the scheme, Minister Doherty said:“This new benefit supports the Government’s aim of creating a supportive environment for entrepreneurship, including providing an income safety net to employees and self-employed alike. This Government has sought to encourage enterprise and, particularly, has sought to introduce a new deal for the self-employed when it comes to their access to benefits. “We have already extended Treatment Benefits and Invalidity Pension to the self-employed in recent years to ensure that they reach some parity with employees in the benefits they can access from the social insurance system. The introduction of a new Jobseeker’s Benefit scheme for the self-employed represents the next step in the Government’s work to extend PRSI benefits and will provide an income safety net to thousands of small and medium businesses throughout the country.” It is estimated that up to 6,500 individuals could benefit from this support at any point in time in a full year. &lt;ad&gt;Under the scheme applicants will have access to the full range of employment supports available to other jobseekers such as referral to group information sessions, one to one interviews and subsequent caseworker support.<ul><li>This is a new statutory social insurance benefit scheme for the self-employed</li><li>The key objective of the new Jobseeker’s Benefit scheme for the Self Employed is to provide a social insurance support to self-employed contributors whose business has ceased</li><li>Applicants will have to satisfy a PRSI contribution condition</li><li>Self-employed persons who do not have sufficient PRSI contributions will continue to be able to apply for jobseekers allowance which is a social assistance means tested scheme</li><li>Drafting of the necessary legislation has commenced for the new scheme to be available from November 2019</li><li>The payment rates for this scheme are the same as the Jobseeker’s Benefit scheme, as follows:</li></ul>&lt;ad&gt;Maximum Personal Rate €203.00Maximum Increase for a Qualified Adult €134.70Maximum Increase for a Qualified Child (Under 12) €34.00Maximum Increase for a Qualified Child (12 and Over) €37.00The new benefit will be paid for 9 months for people with 260 or more self-employment PRSI contributions paid. It will be paid for 6 months for people with fewer than 260 self–employment PRSI contributions paid (same as current Jobseeker’s Benefit scheme).

Liberty Insurance Announce 120 New Jobs For Cavan

Consulting firm EY is to create 600 new jobs across its network of 10 Irish offices over the next year in a move that will bring total headcount locally to nearly 3,700 people.  Some 333 of the new roles will be based across the firm’s two Dublin offices with a further 136 in Belfast. Two additional weeks of paid leave will be available for each parent of a child who is born, or adopted, from 1 November 2019.
The Irish government estimates that nearly 60,000 people per year will be able to avail of the new legislation that is being brought in.The Bill was published this past weekend by Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan, Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty and Minister of State with responsibility for Equality, David Stanton.

Flanagan said on the new legislation: “Having a new baby is a magical time, but it can also be very challenging. We want to support parents and help give them more opportunities to spend time with their children.”

Speaking on the law passed on parental leave, Regina Doherty said: “This payment is in addition to existing maternity, paternity and adoptive leave entitlements. It will provide working parents with a further opportunity to spend more time with their new baby during its first year which is of particular importance,” she stated.

Minister of State with responsibility for Equality, David Stanton mentioned that the government intends to increase the paid leave available to new parents over time.

We share your love for dogs
In the UK, dogs are our beloved furry friends and at Snaptrip, we feel exactly the same. 
However, despite having over 36,000 dog-friendly cottages on our site, we’ve never thought about reviewing these holiday lets from the perspective of our furry friends. So, we decided to launch a potential new initiative – Furrfluencers.

We’re looking for two dogs with exquisite taste and an eye for detail, to travel with their owners to our dog-friendly properties in locations like Cornwall, Wales and the Lake District. Once they arrive, we’d like them to review them in terms of how suitable they are for dogs.

Our chosen Furrfluencer’s will visit ten of our properties over 12 months, all expenses paid, making sure to enjoy everything the property and local area has to offer, so that a detailed review can follow, complete with fantastic photography. (Obviously this review will be written up by each pup’s human counterpart.)

Not only will our chosen pups get to travel the UK and stay in some amazing properties free of charge, but we’re also offering a £300 per review salary! 

Each review must be a minimum of 500 words long and must judge properties on the following criteria: dog enjoyment, dog practicality, access to local walks and dog-friendly establishments like pubs and garden spaces. Once the review is submitted to us, we’ll upload it to our blog, in the hope it will act as a benchmark for dog-friendly properties on our site, and help customers pick a holiday rental that fits their own and their furry friend’s needs.

The owner of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin has decided to press ahead with plans to expand its capacity and build a visitor centre at its distillery in Leitrim in spite of uncertainty created by the potential for a no-deal Brexit at the end of October.Pat Rigney, founder of the Shed Distillery in Leitrim, said this will result in the addition of 25 new jobs and an investment of about €2 million.“We are working our way around Brexit, which is a challenge for everybody in our sector and has caused a lot of uncertainty,” he said, adding that the company was shipping extra supply to a number of continental European markets as a contingency measure against a hard Brexit.“But we continue to double down on the visitor experience and we’re well advanced with that. It’s a big commitment by us to Drumshanbo and we’re also increasing our capacity.“The challenge [of Brexit] for us is to be more resourceful and to work even harder, open new markets and all that.”Britain accounts for between 15 and 20 per cent of Drumshanbo’s gin sales, according to Mr Rigney, while most of its product for continental Europe goes across the UK landbridge.<h4>Finland deal</h4>“We’d also be concerned about the domestic market as UK tourists aren’t coming here in the same numbers,” he added.The distillery has just secured its 50th overseas market by signing a deal in Finland with State-owned Alko, which will see Drumshanbo gin being made available in a wide range of shops there. “This is the only way to see your brand in Finland,” Mr Rigney said.This is a significant breakthrough for the company given that Finland’s off-licence market is controlled by the state. Sweden and Norway operate similar regimes and Mr Rigney hopes to now crack those markets.The Leitrim distillery is hoping to increase its revenues to between €7 million and €8 million, up from €6 million previously.“We are on track. It’s step by step growth but we need to sleep with one eye open ... and we need to be aware that there’s a lot of uncertainty out there. We never expected it to be all plain sailing.”Launched in 2016, some 600,000 bottles of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin were sold last year, up from about 350,000 in 2017. A Pennsylvania-based cybersecurity company has revealed its plans to establish a European HQ and security operations centre in Kilkenny.Security Risk Advisors is currently on the hunt for staff to support the establishment of a new security operations centre in Kilkenny. In total, the company intends to take on 52 new recruits over the next five years.This is the Pennsylvania-based company’s first international office outside the US and will enable the company to provide monitoring services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, bolstering its offerings to European customers, in particular.Security Risk Advisors is a computer and network security company that provides cybersecurity consulting and managed security services to multinational, international and large non-profit organisations.
