These internships will offer a unique opportunity for talented individuals to work as part of a highly motivated and skilled team on innovative projects covering a range of disciplines of relevance to policy objectives. Internships will be for a duration of 22 months. All internships will be based in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin. Successful candidates will gain practical experience by contributing to our communications across our digital platforms. The production of accurate and engaging written features and social media copy complemented by suitable multimedia assets for a wide range of platforms and channels will be core to the work. In this context, strong candidates for these roles would be able to display specialist skills in digital media. This may include, but not be limited to, areas like videography, photography, graphic design, digital asset management, social media, copywriting, ensuring consistency and adherence to accessibility standards, and style guidelines. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University Hospital Kerry, provides comprehensive services for antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal mothers and their babies, and for women who require gynaecological procedures. There is a level 1 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) 2 cots along with Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) 8 cots that cares for babies from 32 weeks gestation with a complex postnatal journey. The Department is closely integrated with the Regional Tertiary referral centre at Cork University Maternity Hospital in respect of clinical standards and governance. The Birth rate in 2023 was 1137 births. Services at UHK are delivered within the SSWHG Maternity Directorate, which is based on the principles of partnership and integration and strongly supports the involvement of the multidisciplinary team in service provision. UHK is the site for clinical placements for student midwives and student nurses in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered in partnership with University College Cork and Munster Technological University. UHK Maternity Services incorporates the use of the MN-CMS (Maternal New-born Clinical Management System) into care delivered at UHK Maternity Services. There are four Maternity Units in the South/South West Hospital Group – University Hospital Waterford, University Hospital Kerry, Cork University Maternity Hospital and South Tipperary General Hospital - spanning four of the largest counties in the country. Maternity Services includes Neonatology and Gynaecology as well as Midwifery and Obstetrics. The Group’s Primary Academic partner is University College Cork. A wide range of educational programmes and research is conducted within all hospitals in the Group. Purpose of Post To be responsible for the management, care and treatment of babies and their families, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility. The primary role of the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Manager 1 (CNM/CMM 1) will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing/midwifery team, including the development of nursing/midwifery staff by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses/midwives where this is appropriate.
