The Head of CEAD will be an active member of the academic community of NCAD and will be an integral part of the academic management/leadership within the School of Education and wider College. The successful candidate will join the Occupational Therapy Department, University Hospital Kerry which provides a service across many of the specialities of the hospital including specialist palliative care, older persons, stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine, pathfinder service, cardiology and out-reach to the Tralee Community Nursing Unit. The OT Department is closely linked with the Kerry Integrated Care of the Older Person (KICPOP) Clinical Care Programme and provides governance to the occupational therapists working in this area. The person appointed to this post will commence as a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist working with the Geriatric Emergency Multidisciplinary Service (GEMS) in the Emergency Department, University Hospital Kerry. The post holder, as and when may be required, will receive support from the Occupational Therapy staff within the department, University Hospital Kerry. Conversely, the post holder may, from time to time, be required to provide support to the other Occupational Therapy services, under the umbrella of University Hospital Kerry, as designated by the Occupational Therapist Manager. The OT working in GEMS will have a close working relationship with the Pathfinder Service in UHK and Kerry ICPOP services. The potential opportunity of rotation to a Clinical Specialist OT role in Pathfinder or Kerry ICPOP and may arise in the future.
