Essential Qualifications and Skills Candidates must: • have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role to a high standard; • be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard; • have obtained at least Grade O6 (formerly D3) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise; Desirable Qualifications and Skills • Level 8 honours degree • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems Overview of the Role The Staff Officer in the Faculty of Science and Health will be aligned to an academic Department within the Faculty to provide administrative support to the Department reporting initially to the Head of Faculty of Science and Health or their nominee and under the supervision of the Faculty Administrator. Subsequently (following recruitment of HOD) reporting to the Head of Department and under the supervision of the Faculty Administrator. Duties • Provide support to HOD with regards to internal and external validation processes and professional regulatory processes and requirements and reporting including; compliance, accreditation, validation and revalidation processes, thus supporting the quality agenda of the Faculty. • Supporting the production of programme documentation for validation processes. • Arrange and provide administrative support for internal and external stakeholder meetings, as appropriate • Liaising with key stakeholders in the Faculty and across ATU e.g. administrative team, procurement, finance, examination, admissions office etc • Providing support to HOD with any other reporting, survey or data collation requirements. • Accessing and processing of confidential information. • Dealing with queries from the student population, academic staff, management, veterinary professionals and the general public. • Maintaining student records supporting the administration of the examination process. • Supporting Programmatic Review. • with any other reporting, survey or data collation requirements. • Provide reports to the HOD as requested. • Assist with organisational and co-ordinating duties associated with Department conferences or events including Open Days/Information Days/Conferring of Awards etc. • Assist with digital the transformation agenda of the Faculty. Consultant Plastic Surgeon With Special Interest In Back And Spinal Reconstruction
Purpose of the Role: This is a newly funded post that will join the current team of plastic surgeons in Crumlin and Temple Street. There is a specific need for consultant plastic surgical support for spina bifida and complex spinal surgery at CHI. It is envisaged that a consultant plastic surgeon is going to be required for multiple aspects of this service including: 1. Assisting the paediatric neurosurgeons in closure of the neural tube defects and the back in babies born with more extensive spina bifida. 2. Assisting spinal surgeons in planning surgery to correct scoliosis and in the repair and reconstruction of complex soft tissue defects in the back. 3. Assisting in the management of complications of spina bifida including the prevention and treatment of pressure sores. This will require regular attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and joint assessments of patients, as well as attendance in the operating theatre. The surgeon providing this service would also be expected to have a commitment to an area of subspecialty within paediatric plastic surgery. Subspecialties within the department include trauma and burns, craniofacial, cleft and hand surgery. Additionally, this post is required in order to support the demand for general elective and emergency plastic surgery interventions as well as the need to reduce outpatient waiting lists. Essential Criteria a) Registration in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Plastic Surgery And b) Two years certified postgraduate training in Plastic Surgery. “The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. The Consultant must, at all times, while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children’s Health Ireland. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate. Should no suitable candidate exist, a further recruitment process may be initiated”. Essential Criteria: (A) (i) Have a Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than a Level 8 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which psychology was a major subject.
