Staff Officer
Essential Qualifications and Skills Candidates must: • have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role to a high standard; • be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard; • have obtained at least Grade O6 (formerly D3) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise;
Desirable Qualifications and Skills • Level 8 honours degree • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems
Overview of the Role The Staff Officer in the Faculty of Science and Health will be aligned to an academic Department within the Faculty to provide administrative support to the Department reporting initially to the Head of Faculty of Science and Health or their nominee and under the supervision of the Faculty Administrator. Subsequently (following recruitment of HOD) reporting to the Head of Department and under the supervision of the Faculty Administrator.
Duties
• Provide support to HOD with regards to internal and external validation processes and professional regulatory processes and requirements and reporting including; compliance, accreditation, validation and revalidation processes, thus supporting the quality agenda of the Faculty. • Supporting the production of programme documentation for validation processes. • Arrange and provide administrative support for internal and external stakeholder meetings, as appropriate
• Liaising with key stakeholders in the Faculty and across ATU e.g. administrative team, procurement, finance, examination, admissions office etc • Providing support to HOD with any other reporting, survey or data collation requirements. • Accessing and processing of confidential information. • Dealing with queries from the student population, academic staff, management, veterinary professionals and the general public. • Maintaining student records supporting the administration of the examination process. • Supporting Programmatic Review. • with any other reporting, survey or data collation requirements. • Provide reports to the HOD as requested. • Assist with organisational and co-ordinating duties associated with Department conferences or events including Open Days/Information Days/Conferring of Awards etc. • Assist with digital the transformation agenda of the Faculty. Appointees will be expected to use new techniques and technologies as they arise. The University will provide the necessary training as appropriate. • Any other reasonable duties assigned by the Head of Department. • Provide administrative assistance with Faculty projects as directed by the HOF

Salary Salary Scale (€50,207 – 60,050) * Candidates external to the sector may be appointed up to the 3rd Point (€53,237) of the Salary Scale in accordance with University Policy Hours of Work
