General Operative - Relief Panel
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following: General Operative Relief Panel (Specific Purpose Contracts) Ref: GORP24 City of Dublin Education and Training Board (City of Dublin ETB) was established on 1st July 2013 under the Education and Training Boards Act, 2013. City of Dublin ETB has 3,000 employees and an annual budget of €580m. It is the state education and training authority for Dublin city and serves the area covered by Dublin City Council. This provision is delivered to over 48,000 learners (20,000 full-time and 28,000 part-time) and is supported by a range of services including a psychological service, a curriculum development unit, a buildings maintenance unit and Head Office staff in Ballsbridge. It also has statutory responsibility for supporting the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of youth work services in Dublin city and is the lead partner for Music Generation Dublin City. City of Dublin ETB is also responsible for the national awarding authority for student grants in Ireland, Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI). Proposed Timeframe: Shortlisting will take place week commencing: 13th January 2025 Interviewing to commence week beginning: 27th January 2025 * All dates are subject to change and are for guidance only Salary: For persons entering public service for the first time, starting pay will be at the minimum point of the General Operative Salary Scale (Full time) €641.27 per week / €33,462 p.a. Staff not working full-time will be paid on a pro-rata basis. This is not negotiable. An incremental salary scale applies thereafter. Previous public sector experience in an analogous grade may be eligible for incremental credit, which will be determined upon appointment. Salary is paid fortnightly by Electronic Funds Transfer. Annual Leave: Annual leave is calculated in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997. Annual leave is exclusive of the usual public holidays and requests for leave must be approved in advance by your supervisor on the online self-service portal. The annual leave entitlement for this position is 22 days and the annual leave year runs from September to August each year. Annual leave where possible must be taken during school closures. Hours of Work: The standard working week is 40 hours, however reduced contracts may be offered subject to the specific needs and requirements of the position being filled. Duties and Responsibilities The professional instruction and other duties require that: · The adult educator shall give tuition in the subject matter of the syllabus/module content to the satisfaction of the Head Teacher /Adult Education Officer/Director of FET and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Department of Education and SOLAS. · To set tasks to students to be undertaken both at the Centre. · To prepare courses, schemes of work, assessment tools and individual lessons appropriate to the needs, interests, experience and existing knowledge of the learners in one’s class. · The adult educator is expected to arrive at a reasonable time before the commencement of the class, so as to enable the class to start at the scheduled hour. They shall record their attendance by whatever system is prescribed. Any adult educator who comes late shall be liable to forfeit all or part of his/her remuneration. The same rule will apply to early departures. · In addition to the work in class, the adult educator is required to fulfil such other duties incidental to the proper management of and the evaluation/assessment of the progress of his/her class as may from time to time be required: the payments made for actual class contact hours cover these incidental duties. · To mark and assess learner work and to record their development progress and attainment both in class and elsewhere. · To carry out all assessments and evaluations appropriate to delivering QQI qualifications. · To take part in the programme planning process of policy and aims and in the revision formulation of guidelines. · To provide or contribute both oral and written assessments and references both in class and elsewhere relating to the development and learning or individual learner and groups of learner. · To evaluate and review one’s own teaching methods, materials and schemes of work and to make changes as appropriate on an individual basis or in co-operation with the Head Teacher /Adult Education Officer/Director of FET and/or Inspectorate of the Department of Education. · To keep up to date with current educational thinking and practice both by study and attendance at Courses, Workshops and meetings. · To be responsible for the property of equipment of GRETB in charge, at any time, and to supervise the packing or unpacking of that equipment while it is being transported from one center to another. · When a adult educator is unable to attend his/her class he/she must notify the Head Teacher/Adult Education Officer/Director of FET as early as possible. · To carry out the lawful orders of Galway & Roscommon Education & Training Board and of its Chief Executive, and to fulfill the rules and requirements of the Minister for Education.
