Job announcements from this year's budget
Ahead of the budget yesterday, the Minister referenced unemployment numbers in recent years. He said unemployment is at 6.1 percent, its lowest since 2008. Mr Donohoe says it will fall to 5.7 percent next year, close to the level considered to be full employment. Also following the budget today additional funding will create:
- 1,000 additional frontline staff across the health sector.
- 1,300 extra teaching posts 2018, pupil-teacher ratio reduced to 26:1
- 1,000 extra Special Needs Assistants (SNAs)
- 40 New staff for Department of Enterprise
- 800 New Gardai to be recruited in 2018
- 500 extra civilian workers to be recruited within Gardai
Tusla – additional funding will hopefully increase the number of Social Workers to be recruited. Additional funding for additional 3,000 additional Social Houses should mean more jobs in the building sector.
