Lactation Specialist

Lactation Specialist Purpose of the Role The appointment of an Infant Feeding/Lactation specialist, with International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) qualification, within all Irish maternity hospitals and paediatric hospitals is a key action of the HSE Breastfeeding in a Healthy Ireland Health Service Breastfeeding Action Plan 2016 – 2021 (HSE, 2016). The primary purpose of this post will be to provide leadership and evidence-based education for patients and staff in CHI. The post holder will assist with supporting the parent’s choice of infant feeding, provide lactation support and education to women attending our service in conjunction with a highly motivated multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide ongoing research and audit of infant feeding choices and promote a quality service for women and infants. Essential Criteria: International board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) qualification is essential for all applicants nursing and HSCP. For Nursing candidates: · Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or be eligible to be so registered · Have 5 years post registration relevant nursing experience · Hold a level 8 or higher related to Infant feeding/Lactation or a post registration programme of study in children’s nursing or neonatal intensive care nursing. Chief I Respiratory Physiologist Purpose of the Role The purpose of this post is to support the Chief II Respiratory Physiologist to provide leadership and operational management of the CHI Respiratory Physiology service providing a wide range of pulmonary function testing and sleep studies to patients referred. Service Lead: The case manager will act as a Service Lead with relevant service providers to deal with day to day operational issues and to ensure that the Service Arrangement Contract in place with HSE is being adhered to. PhD Opportunity in Critical Care Translational Immunology and Critical Care Retrieval Medicine We invite applications from trainees in Anaesthesiology and/or Intensive Care Medicine interested in pursuing a PhD and a career in academic intensive care medicine. This unique position combines clinical and scientific roles, in collaboration between Trinity College Dublin and the National Ambulance Service Critical Care & Retrieval Services. The successful candidate will: • Undertake a PhD in translational immunology under the supervision of Prof. Nigel Stevenson (Viral Immunology Laboratory, TCD), focusing on the effects of RSV infection on innate immune pathways, with and without immunisation. • Work as a critical care retrieval doctor in the NAS-CCRS adult (MICAS) and paediatric (IPATS) teams (2 days/week) under the direction of a Retrieval Consultant This program is designed to equip future ICU specialists with foundational immunology knowledge, complementing core biomedical sciences of Critical Care Medicine, while retaining and developing clinical skills of an Intensivist or Retrievalist. Eligibility Criteria: • Completion (or near completion) of specialist training in Anaesthesiology and/or Intensive Care Medicine. Paediatric or Emergency Medicine trainees should have training in Anaesthesiology or Intensive Care • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and project completion. • Understanding and interest in viral infection and disease, molecular biology and Immunology.
