The Role This role involves working with all areas of the University community to coordinate and monitor the Universities sustainability activities and engagement with the United National Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The TUS strategic plan commits the University to being a leader on sustainability and working with stakeholders to deliver on the sustainable development agenda at a regional, national and international level. The role will involve developing systems to facilitate data gathering from across the TUS academic, research, engagement and operational activities which can support the University to map its sustainability activities and its contribution towards the SDGs. The Sustainability Coordinator, working with relevant experts, will support development of a central repository of sustainability resources and data for staff, students and external stakeholders. The coordinator will support the collation of data, resources, documents and evidence which will enable TUS to benchmark its progress using relevant tools and evaluation/rating systems. The coordinator will contribute to TUS ensuring that it communicates its extensive sustainability activities effectively through relevant channels and support TUS networking with other sustainability actors in the Higher Education sector both nationally and internationally. Qualifications/Experience Candidates must: • have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role • be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard • have obtained at least Grade H6/06 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise Desirable: • Qualification in relevant field aligned to sustainability agenda e.g. environmental science, rural development, planning or other related fields. • Knowledge of sustainability and UN SDGs and ideally work experience in sustainability related field/activity. • Experience of working with multiple data sources and stakeholders to collate and gather data and information. Collation and data input to evaluation/rating system and production of reports as required. • Collaborating with TUS staff to actively and effectively, communicate sustainability activities, impacts and ambitions to internal and external stakeholders through relevant media channels. • Contribute to analysis on current and emerging sustainability trends and tools relevant to Higher Education. • Support relevant and appropriate sustainability initiatives and projects. • Support submission of funding applications to increase the scale and depth of resources to support TUS sustainability ambitions. • Collection and analysis of stakeholder views (students, staff, external partners etc) on sustainability, and TUS sustainability actions, through surveys, workshops and other means • Any other duties as may be required by the line manager Superannuation This is a pensionable post. Specific details of the scheme will be dependent on the successful appointee’s individual status and therefore such details will be provided at the time of appointment.
