Housing Apprentice

As a Housing Apprentice, you will be ready to make a positive impact on the lives of others and kickstart your career in housing. You will embark on a twoyear journey of learning and development within Woven Housing Association, where you will get the hands-on experience to develop in this field. You will also be required to complete two Level 3 qualifications in Housing Practice (CIH and OCN), through the North West Regional College. Attendance will be through a mix of virtual and face to face training. SCOPE OF WORK: The role of housing apprentice generally involves oral and written communication, responding to email and telephone enquiries, data entry and collating of information. There is a requirement to be flexible in relation to tasks to be undertaken, have a conscientious approach to work, a keen attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop new skills. Key responsibilities may include: • Working closely with the other members of the team to ensure the smooth operation of the office. • Delivering a great customer service experience, acting in a professional and understanding manner when liaising with external and internal customers in person, on the phone or via written correspondence. • Proactively and promptly responding to queries and liaising with line management to efficiently progress any duties assigned. • Effectively use MS applications to provide general support for the Housing team. • Ensure effective organisation skills to prioritise own workload and work effectively as part of the Housing team. • Carry out a range of administration / clerical tasks e.g. typing letters, data entry, updating of spreadsheets, updating MIS systems. • Effectively manage the Housing Management Inbox / In-tray. • Print and post correspondence and forward information to EST in a timely manner. • Effective use of Management Information Systems e.g. Omniledger for analysis and actions for income recovery. • Have an understanding of welfare benefits and be able to interpret accounts for analysis and actions for income recovery. • Effectively carry out tasks relating to Four-week tenancy visits; Tenancy Audits; Viewings; Arrears Letters; Offers and Verifying UC housing costs. • Ensuring all records are maintained in accordance with quality system requirements, data protection legislation and that confidentiality of records is maintained at all times. • Ensuring filing and electronic filing is actioned and kept up to date at all times. • Working in partnership with the other members of the team to ensure cover during office hours. • Following policies and procedures clearly and having the forethought to highlight necessary amendments, ensuring documentation is up to date. Mileage will be reimbursed at a casual user mileage rate as detailed in the Associations Travel and Expenditure policy. • This role requires the postholder to interact with the general public and other stakeholders which may sometimes involve managing difficult or challenging behaviours. • Occasional attendance at lunch and evening meetings and working out of hours or at weekends to meet the needs of the business. REQUIRED CRITERIA FOR POST 1. Five GCSE’s (including Grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent) 2. Hold a full current driving license or have access to a form of transport that enables you to meet the requirements of the post in full including with reasonable travel timescales SKILLS & ABILITIES (may be tested at interview) 3. Be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office packages 4. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills 5. Be willing to learn and able to take on instructions 6. Have excellent organisational skills 7. Be able to work within a team and work on own initiative 8. Be able to work to tight deadlines in a pressured environment SALARY: £22,737.00 per year
