Barna Recycling, Connacht’s leading waste management provider, are currently seeking a HGV mechanic to work as part of a team in our workshop at our Carrowbrowne Facility just outside Galway City. Duties & Responsibilities: · To perform routine maintenance on our fleet. · Electrical and engine troubleshooting and diagnostics. · Engine and transmission repairs. · Diagnose faults and malfunctions. · Perform 12 week safety inspections and pretests. · Provide training and advice to apprentices. · Ability to use hand and power tools related to motor vehicle service and repair. · Complete job reports using a computer or tablet. · Maintaining a clean work environment and follow health & safety procedures. · Work on a wide range of vehicles and trailers Skills: · Ability to diagnose malfunctions and faults. · Attention to detail. · Problem solving. · Knowledge of wiring. · Ability to operate diagnostic equipment. · Knowledge of methods of preventive maintenance and general maintenance. · Ability to work on your own and within a team. · Knowledge of waste industry and advantage but not essential. Qualifications: · Qualified HGV Mechanic. · Experience repairing truck fleet or similar. Remuneration: · Competitive rate depending on experience. Key Responsibilities: • Guide and Assist Customers: Welcome visitors to the Recycling Centres, providing clear direction and support in using recycling facilities effectively and responsibly. • Handle Recyclable & Household Waste: Sort, separate, and bulk materials as they arrive onsite, ensuring efficient processing and minimal environmental impact. • Uphold Health & Safety Standards: Adhere strictly to Bryson Recycling’s Quality and Health & Safety protocols, including the consistent use of PPE and safe lifting techniques. • Deliver Excellent Customer Service: Maintain strong relationships with the public and local community by assisting with recycling queries and addressing concerns professionally. • Support Collection Rounds: Join collection teams when required, contributing to seamless waste and recycling operations across the region. • Maintain Accurate Documentation: Complete all required paperwork clearly and accurately, supporting site efficiency and compliance. • Problem-Solve on the Spot: Use initiative and practical thinking to resolve day-to-day operational issues swiftly and effectively. • Adapt to a Range of Duties: Take on any additional tasks relevant to the role, ensuring smooth and flexible service delivery. • Engage in Continuous Development: Attend training sessions and personal development meetings as required to enhance skills and performance. • Achieve Performance Targets: Consistently meet service delivery goals, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across operations.
