Job Purpose: Reporting directly to the Radiography Services Manager the position of Clinical Specialist Radiographer – Interventional Cardiology has responsibility to lead, guide and supervise Radiography staff and to successfully manage service delivery on a day to day basis in Cardiovascular Laboratory Department. Ability to manage in a rapidly changing environment and willingness to undertake such additional duties as may be assigned from time to time are essential. The Cardiovascular Laboratory at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) is a multidisciplinary department. In addition to Radiography duties the Clinical Specialist will liaise with Consultant Cardiologists, CNM2 Nurse Lead, CVRRE Operations Manager, Radiology Directorate Manager, Medical Physics and the Radiography Services Managers to assist in planning and developing a quality professional service to the patient cohort. The Cardiovascular department currently consists of 3 Cardiac Catheterisation units. This post requires that the Clinical Specialist in Interventional Cardiology will co-ordinate the usage of all of these units and is responsible for correct usage of the systems by non-Radiography staff in addition to ensuring that all systems are serviced and maintained to ensure optimum image quality at all times. A key additional element of this role will be to support any service development of the Cardiovascular service in Theatre Hybrid Fluoroscopy unit, including support for any Cardiovascular cases in the Hybrid Suite. Purpose of role: This is a newly funded post that will join the current team of anaesthesiologists in Crumlin At present, the consultants are providing anaesthesia cover to 8 theatres, 1 cardiac catheterisation suite, CT screening room, Nuclear Medicine and MRI. General Anaesthesiology for off-site radiotherapy in St. Luke’s (500 cases per year requiring consultant Anaesthesiologist presence) is also provided in addition to remote intrathecal chemotherapy list within Crumlin Hospital. CHI-Crumlin anaesthesiologists also provide acute pain cover and oversee a growing pre-anaesthetic assessment service. This post is required in order to support the demand for theatre and the need to reduce waiting lists.
