They will ensure that NIHE "Supporting People" contractual requirements and standards are met and maintained. BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND (BOCSI) – WEST REGION POST OF TEMPORARY PART-TIME SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (0.5WTE) ADULT SERVICES, GALWAY CITY AND COUNTY ‘LIVING MY LIFE’ PROJECT JOB REF: 73874 Overview of Role and Project: The post holder will be a temporary member of the Project Team responsible for the delivery of a 5-year Housing Pilot Project. Under the HSE National Service Plan 2022, funding has been approved for an innovative Housing Project with a primary aim to establish a pathway to planned residential services for adults with intellectual disability in Galway City and County.This is an interagency project led jointly by Brothers of Charity Services Ireland (BOCSI) – West Region and Ability West with significant links with the Community Healthcare West Disability Services Team.The intended outcome of this project is a proactive model of access to residential services for persons with an intellectual disability over a 5-year period (2022-2027). It aims to provide a solution to barriers experienced by people with intellectual disability in accessing residential services in intellectual disability service provider organisations due to competing ‘emergency’ placements and limited resources. Successful roll-out of the pilot project will result in 32 new residential placements provided by either BOCSI-West Region or Ability West in Galway City or County to people already known to services with ageing carers or emerging needs where the need to plan is evident. One cross-organisational Steering Committee will oversee and support the project across the two service providers, consisting of Project Manager, Research Officer, Specialist Multi-disciplinary team, family representative and line managers from both agencies. The Role: To develop, coordinate and provide occupational therapy to support people with intellectual disabilities within the context of the Living My Life Project, the multi-disciplinary team and a person centred approach. Qualifications: Candidates must: Hold an Occupational therapy qualification recognised by the Occupational Therapy Registration Board at CORU, the regulator for Health and Social Care professionals in Ireland. See https://www.coru.ie/ AND Be registered on the Occupational Therapists Register, maintained by the Occupational Therapy Registration Board at CORU A full clean driving licence and use of a car is an essential requirement of this post. Experience: Candidates must have at least 3 years post qualification occupational therapy clinical experience. Experience working in an occupational therapy role with people with a disability is essential. Experience of supporting skill development for community living and home design to maximise independence is highly desirable. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate competency in applying theory, knowledge and skills of Occupational Therapy within the service area of people with intellectual disabilities. Strong team-working skills are required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in verbal and written English are essential. Flexibility and an openness to change are required. Working Hours: 35 hours per fortnight based on a 5 day duty roster. Contracted hours are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm as future service needs require and flexibility will be required in order to meet service needs.
