Duty Manager
Salary: PO1 SCP 28-31, £36,648 - £39,186 per annum, plus 10% shift allowance JOB PURPOSE: Committing to the one-team ethos, you will be flexible and collaborative and you will actively support all colleagues and other activities necessary to deliver the service objectives. As a Duty Manager and part of the Duty Management Team, you will be responsible for leading the team in the delivery of an excellent customer experience. You will engage positively with staff and customers, understanding and meeting their needs as appropriate. You are responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the Centre, the management of the teams and the implementation of the agreed Service Plan. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage the centre ensuring the adequate resourcing and efficient use of staff and resources in operating, developing and promoting the facilities, including staff rotas. 2. Recruit, lead and develop staff to ensure that they and any employees for which they are responsible: • Effectively manage their teams, positively contributing to wellbeing and high levels of employee engagement; • Implement and review appropriate training and development programmes for employees to ensure sufficient skills, capacity and knowledge within the service. • Operate within Council policies and procedures; • Deliver services in the most efficient and equitable manner and in accordance with Council governance and financial regulations; • Efficiently and effectively manage available resources; • Deliver their agreed performance targets; • Work in a corporate and collaborative way with other services and departments. 3. Organise and deliver induction training for new staff. 4. Organise and facilitate work placements. 5. Manage staff to ensure a continuous improvement culture. 6. Assist with updating and implementing all Normal Operating Procedures and Operating Standards, Emergency Action Plans, Technical Operating Procedures (equipment and plant operating instructions) and health and safety systems (risk assessments, etc.) are compliant with Council policy and regulatory standards and that checks and records are in place. 8. Ensure that all equipment, plant and operational procedures are operating safely, manage failures/breakdowns and take all necessary actions. 9. Implement health & safety and safeguarding systems within the Centre. 10. Ensure staff adhere to all cash-handling and reconciliation procedures. 11. Liaise with contractors whilst on site. 12. Operate as a key holder, opening and closing the facility, ensuring that the building is safe to use for customers on opening, and secure on closing. Respond to emergency call outs as necessary. 13. Liaise with customers, deal with any appropriate incidents, accidents, complaints or queries and escalate as appropriate. 14. Actively participate in marketing/sales plans to maximise the Centre’s usage and income. 15. Promote and/or sell all products and activities within the Centre and within the Leisure Services portfolio. 16. Be flexible and collaborative and actively support all colleagues and other activities or processes which impact on the performance of the Centre. Please note - employees must remain on site for the duration of all breaks which may be interrupted due to the requirements of the service. Paid meal breaks are normally of half hour duration. The timing of such breaks will be determined by operational requirements. Employees will be reimbursed this time. Qualifications and training • 3rd level qualification (i.e. HNC/HND, Level 4, Degree ) in line with the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in a relevant discipline (Please note relevancy should be clearly demonstrated). Building Maintenance General Operative
To assist in the maintenance of all Council assets such as (but not limited to) civic buildings, leisure centres, sports grounds, caravan parks, community halls, play parks, picnic areas and public realm. Includes both new works and improvements to existing assets (including assisting skilled staff). To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public. If and as required, deal with on-site complaints and queries or refer to your line manager as necessary. Grounds Maintenance General Operative
Grade/Salary: Scale 3 (SCP 7-8) £24,294-£24,702 per annum Directorate: Environmental Services Department: Estates Reports To: Team Lead / Supervisor Location: You will be based at either Ballymoney, Coleraine or Limavady Depot however when required you will be asked to work flexibly throughout all Council depots and facilities, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively and in order to respond to service priorities and to facilitate professional development. Responsible for: The following functions and services, in accordance with the organisational structure and the staff employed to deliver these services. This will include (but is not confined to) labouring, trench digging, fencing, drainage work, loading / unloading / delivery of materials etc and maintaining good housekeeping. 6. To give assistance, support and training within your remit to team members and others in performance of duties and responsibilities with an emphasis on Health and Safety. Includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, working at heights ensuring adherence to risk assessments, method statements and where necessary, completing dynamic on-the-job risk assessments. 7. Assisting gardener/green-keeper in a range of horticultural activities. 8. Cutting grass to specified standards in both sports and non-sports locations. 9. Operate grounds maintenance machinery such as ride-on mowers, power tools, tractors and associated plant. 10. Drive applicable Council vehicles including vans and lorries and other mechanical plant up to relevant C1 licence. Complete and maintain daily records sheets relative to the operation of the vehicle. Ensure the vehicle / plant is cleaned and maintained inside and outside as directed by the Team Leader. 11. Carry out all general grounds tasks, including turf care, planting, shrub and tree pruning, removal of grass cuttings, leaves and litter etc. 12. Undertake seeding, propagation, planting, mulching, tending and weeding of flower and shrub beds. 13. Use, where appropriate, chemical weed control under direction, complying with manufacturers’ instructions and COSHH regulations. 14. Undertake general maintenance to hard/soft landscaping, eg edging of paths and paved areas and replacement of bark. 15. Erect, inspect, maintain, dismantle sports and play equipment, play park equipment including the movement of goal posts. 16. Undertake constructional labouring work and the safe operation of a range of assorted tools and equipment, including, eg erection/repair of fencing and path laying. 17. Ensure the safe use of machinery necessary to the performance of all work. Includes safe operation, daily / weekly operational checks (oil / water) and ensuring same are kept clean and serviceable. 18. Assist Team Lead in completion of all necessary paperwork eg weekly timesheets; accident report forms, vehicle / plant log books, inspection records, work schedules, dynamic risk assessment, work schedules, chemical applications and vehicle / plant log books. 19. Cemetery duties including: excavating, re-opening, exhuming, digging (mechanical / hand), attend committals, backfill and aftercare (sowing / turfing / grass cutting) of graves. 20. Cleaning, litter picking and general housekeeping duties. 21. As required, work flexibly with other works teams (outside of grounds maintenance) to ensure delivery of all Council services eg supporting delivery of Council events (including stewarding) and erection, inspections and minor repairs of festive lighting. 22. Support other agencies in times of emergency eg filling, delivery and placing of sand bags in flooded areas or snow clearance from footpaths. 23. Report all accidents and near misses which may occur and report all incidents of damage to Council property / equipment. 24. In circumstances when littering is observed during the course of their duties pass the information to the Team Lead. 25. Carry out duties in all weather conditions unless it is felt health and safety is being compromised. GENERAL 26. By its nature the post will require flexible working to meet the needs of the service. Details of Service The HSE Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) in CDNTs are interdisciplinary teams providing assessment and intervention to children and young people aged 0-18 years who have complex needs arising from a disability. The HSE CDNTs work with children and families living in the Sligo and Leitrim/ west Cavan area of Community Health Networks. The Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist will be a core member of the CDNT and is central to the promotion and delivery of frontline health and social services. Much of the work carried out is with the family and systems surrounding the child including health, welfare and education services, providing a holistic approach promoting the safety and welfare of the children attending the service. The role will also include supporting families before, during and post diagnosis. Using the key principles of the Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People programme as a model of service which is based on family centred practice and interdisciplinary team working, these teams will provide therapeutic assessment and intervention to children aged between 0-18 years. The CDNT’s are charged with the delivery of an efficient and effective health and personal social service for children and young people with complex needs relating to a disability. These teams will include Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work, Nursing and Dietetics The Sligo / Leitrim CDNTs work closely together and are supported by a Paediatrician in Neurodisability who undertakes clinics with each CDNT. Reporting Relationship · The post holder will report to the Children’s Disability Network Manager Key Working Relationships · Operationally responsible to the Children’s Disability Network Manager. · Clinically supervision will be provided by Speech and Language Therapy Manager · Working with the Children’s Disability Network Teams for Sligo, Leitrim & west Cavan area.
