Transport Shift Manager

Summary: Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions in a state of the art Distribution Centre. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner. Key Accountabilities: · Co-ordination of all depot activities and efficient dispatched of routes daily, ensuring the smooth running of depot while ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times · Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team in line with performance and absence management processes to ensure concerns are managed appropriately. Analyse trends where appropriate, coach and where necessary follow the disciplinary processes. · Maintaining open ongoing communication with departments across the business including sales, warehouse and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with the team · Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimized and reported · Ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand · Manage incoming and outgoing goods and backhaul collections on a daily basis · Relief driving as necessary · Identifies, coordinates and delivers training as appropriate to meet driver needs · Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards · Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times · Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner Requirements: · 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation · Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous · Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word · Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner · Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.) · Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service · Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business · Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data · Fluent English – reading and writing · High level of flexibility and problem solving · A full clean Category C Drivers License, valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card and have a digital tachograph card would be advantageous · Must possess a strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area Core Competencies: · Building Effective Relationships – Is a role model for maintaining constructive and effective relationships with others across departments and other boundaries. Health and Safety Officer
Summary: Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager this is an exciting opportunity to develop in a role that will be expected to perform all tasks associated with developing and implementing the company’s Health & Safety, procedures, and management systems to exceed the legal and corporate compliance requirements. The successful candidate will assist in the development, management, and delivery of safety related training to all levels of staff on a variety of areas including, procedural requirements, incident investigation, risk assessment and safety inspection/audit. The H&S Officer will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a health & safety culture within the company across our Newcastle West, Cork and Galway distribution centres and will be exposed to a wide variety of multiple site activities and challenges associated with the logistical aspects of a leading food catering industry supplier. We are looking for someone who has a demonstrable understanding of our business and relevant training will be provided on all related aspects of the H&S management systems. Key Accountabilities: · The Health & Safety Officer will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture within the company. · Assists in the development & implementation of health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with current and future relevant legislation and industry best practice. · Ensures effective risk assessment and risk reduction programmes are in place across sites. · Conducts regular internal H&S inspections and audits to monitor effectiveness of controls and highlight any areas for improvement/action. Facilitating external audits & inspections where required. · Manages the departmental programmes, tasks, objectives, and goals to achieve targets. · Manages the action tracking process through liaising with all stakeholders to ensure agreed actions are closed in a timely manner and escalated where necessary. · Monitors the H&S performance via metrics to ensure decisive action is taken when required. · Identify, organise, and deliver training to management and personnel when require. · Ensuring a robust H&S incident investigation process is in place. Leads investigations where necessary. · Continuous monitor and review of incident data and trends to ensure adequate investigations are taking place and appropriate corrective actions and outcomes identified and implemented. · Facilitate regular meetings between stakeholders including safety representative / committee and management, circulate minutes and track actions. People are supported in various settings including residential homes, community houses, family homes, day services, respite services and supported community living. The successful candidate will provide services in a variety of these settings. The professional reporting relationship for clinical governance and clinical supervision will be to the Occupational Therapy Manager through the professional line management structure. Clinical supervision may be provided by a senior occupational therapist. The therapist will ultimately be responsible to the Director of Services (Ms. Una Nagle).
