BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND - WEST REGION PROVIDING SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES JOB DESCRIPTION: SUPPORT WORKERS ADULT WEST SERVICES, BRUACH NA MARA, CONNEMARA, COUNTY GALWAY JOB REF: 135/2024W The Role: The role of support worker is to assist the people who use our service to meet their day to day needs, reach their full potential, promote independence and to be an active part of their the local community. We support them to further their education (both internal and external to the Service) and to build their independent living skills if this is their choice. A major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support people who use the Service with development of their own Individual Plan and supporting them to achieve their own Personal Outcome goals. The Support Worker is also responsible for all aspects of personal care which includes supporting individuals with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being as required by the individual. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the Field of intellectual disability is an advantage. QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable. A minimum of one years’ experience of working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability is desirable, full training will be provided. The candidate should have knowledge of person-centred planning. A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. It may be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence, should it be required. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. To be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team working skills together with an enthusiasm for the post. Working Hours: Full-time hours are 78 hours a fortnight/part-time hours will vary. All posts are rostered over a 14 day/night duty roster. There may be a requirement for Support Workers to work days, waking night duty, weekends, split duty hours, bank holidays, and sleepovers to meet service needs. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure the provision of high quality services for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant (Intellectual Disability) salary scale (01/10/2023) - €32,199 x 11 increments - € 44,690 (Max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €45,484 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Tenure: These posts are permanent/temporary and pensionable. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy
HSE Mid - West are currently recruiting for the role of Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT). Location of the Post HSE Mid-West – Initial Assignment University Hospital Limerick There is currently 2 permanent / whole-time vacancies available in University Hospital Limerick. A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled. Purpose of the Post The main purpose of the post is to develop the job description and supporting documentation under the direction of the Health Care Provider’s Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group, to enable the individual nurse to meet the NMBI Criteria for Registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner as set out in Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI, 2017). The individual will undertake the academic preparation and develop the clinical and leadership skills, competencies and knowledge required to meet the criteria to be registered as a RANP with NMBI. The scope of the cANP role must reflect the incremental development of expertise and as such, the cANP cannot deliver care as an autonomous practitioner. Furthermore, the cANP will develop and submit their personal portfolio and all other necessary documentation to NMBI in order to register as a RANP. The value of the nursing contribution as a distinct profession must be safeguarded and articulated in the development of new services led by advanced nurse practitioners, complementing rather than replacing current services delivered by doctors (NMBI 2017 p.9). The overall purpose of the post is to provide safe, timely, evidenced based nurse-led care to patients at an advanced nursing level. This involves undertaking and documenting a complete episode of patient care (assess, diagnose, plan, treat and discharge patients) according to collaboratively agreed protocols and scope of practice in the clinical setting; demonstrating advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, clinical leadership and decision making skills. The advanced practice role demonstrates a high degree of knowledge, skill and experience that is applied within the nurse-patient/client relationship to achieve optimal outcomes through critical analysis, problem solving and accurate decision-making (NMBI, 2017). Central to this is the provision of quality care, a safe environment and processes for patients by the use of evidence based clinical guidelines that address patient expectations, promote wellness and evaluate care given. The role will provide clinical leadership and professional scholarship in order to develop nursing practice and health policy at local, regional and national level. The role will contribute to nursing research to shape and advance nursing practice, education and health care policy at local, national and international levels.
