Video Production Technician
Basic Function:
Develop and support the capacity of Teagasc to communicate and provide services through video to Teagasc staff, students, farmers and the public. The appointee will be responsible for producing video content that supports knowledge transfer activities with clients, students, stakeholders and the wider public and will be responsible for the maintenance and set up of audio visual equipment.
Background:
Teagasc plays an influential role in the development of the Irish agri-food sector and must ensure that it continues to provide services that are relevant and highly valued by actors across the agri-food sector. Teagasc must also ensure that it maximises the reach and impact of its advisory services, research and education programmes through the optimal use of video and digital media. In recent years, Teagasc has developed its own studio, invested in the training of staff and the purchase of video/audio recording equipment to enable the production of high quality digital media content for social media, streaming live events and educational programmes. The appointee will join the Teagasc Knowledge Transfer (KT) Outreach and Innovation Department as a member of the Digital Media Production Team. The Digital Media Production team is a team of two people with the appointee reporting to the Digital Media Production Manager.

Job Objectives
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The appointee will:
- Support the continuous development of video production within the Teagasc Digital Media Production unit.
- Support the delivery of Studio broadcasts and streaming/recording of events.
- Rig up and derig audio visual equipment for streaming/recording hybrid events.
- Cataloguing, filing and maintaining an archive of video footage.
- Responsibility for the setup, operation, storage and maintenance of audio visual equipment and studio facilities.
- Recording, editing and producing high quality video content.
- Liaise with the Teagasc Public Relations department in relation to the production and publication of videos for Teagasc digital media campaigns, the Teagasc website and social media platforms.
- Support the Digital Media Production Manager to deliver training to staff on video production.
- Contribute to and support the development/delivery of the Digital Media Business plan within the Knowledge Transfer Outreach and Innovation programme.
- Contribute to developing innovative uses of video to improve the overall efficiency and impact of Teagasc programmes.
- Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills on video production.
- To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan.
- To actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
- To fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of oneself, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations, including full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.

Qualifications
- A minimum of a Level 6 qualification as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent in Video Production plus 3 years’ video production experience
OR
- A minimum of a Level 6 qualification as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent in any discipline plus at least 5 years’ video production experience.
Skills
- Excellent audio and videography production skills (shooting and editing material)
- Experience of rigging up and derigging audio visual equipment for streaming/recording live events (multi camera set up)
- Excellent ICT skills
- Strong communications and influencing skills.
- Track record in producing video content and meeting deadlines
Knowledge
- Adobe Products, including Premier Pro and After Effects
- Video production systems – for example Black Magic, Wirecast or Tricaster
- Audio and visual equipment
- Good knowledge of the Agri-Food Sector
- Experience and understanding of social media and streaming platforms

Other
- As this role will involve travel between Teagasc centres, farms and other locations around the country, the candidates must have their own car and must also satisfy and continue to satisfy, legal requirements to drive unaccompanied on Irish public roads during employment with Teagasc.
- Candidates must have a full driving license. While not essential, it would be an advantage for candidates to have a BE category licence.
