Now, we’re looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team within our Cork Distribution Centre. This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping to maintain our core ethos here are Sysco – keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.

Summary:

Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions in a state of the art Distribution Centre. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.

Key Accountabilities:

· Co-ordination of all depot activities and efficient dispatched of routes daily, ensuring the smooth running of depot while ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times

· Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team in line with performance and absence management processes to ensure concerns are managed appropriately. Analyse trends where appropriate, coach and where necessary follow the disciplinary processes.

· Maintaining open ongoing communication with departments across the business including sales, warehouse and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with the team

· Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimized and reported

· Ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand

· Manage incoming and outgoing goods and backhaul collections on a daily basis

· Relief driving as necessary

· Identifies, coordinates and delivers training as appropriate to meet driver needs

· Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards

· Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times

· Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner

Requirements:

· 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation

· Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous

· Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

· Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner

· Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)

· Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service

· Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business

· Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data

· Fluent English – reading and writing

· High level of flexibility and problem solving

· A full clean Category C Drivers License, valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card and have a digital tachograph card would be advantageous

· Must possess a strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
