What You’ll Do as a Trainee Accountant

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

• Support the preparation of monthly financial and management accounts.
• Support in the management of Primark’s intercompany stock/creditor cleardown process.
• Maintenance of Primark’s intercompany interest schedules.
• Ownership of entities for periodic management accounts reporting to ABF plc.
• Ownership of periodic intercompany recharges process.
• Supporting the OpEx team with periodic accruals.
• Assist the Financial Accountant with weekly treasury accounting postings.
• Support the Balance Sheet Reconciliations team by ensuring a thorough review and capability to explain the movements in the key critical accounts framework.
• Preparation of monthly intercompany confirmations across the group and external parties including reporting on and reconciling of intercompany balances and mismatches.
• Ensure proper books and records are held in all jurisdictions and are in accordance with local requirements (tax, acounting, legal etc).
• Any other tasks and ad hoc projects as required by management.

• Ambitious self-starter with positive attitude, committed to pursuing a career in accountancy and a desire to progress within the organisation.
• Some industry experience and a passion for Retail would be an advantage.
• Desire a deep understanding of accounting principles such as IFRS, and local GAAP for the countries in which we operate.
• Ability to work in a systematic and organised way.
• Attention to detail with strong financial and analytical skills.
• Strong presentation and communication skills required.
• Ability to work under pressure and capable of handling multiple priorities.
• English is essential and other European languages would be an advantage.
