The Role:

Customer Operations develop, deliver, and support excellent customer service to both domestic and non-domestic customers within a regulated industry. Customer Operations is responsible for managing the customers relationship with the Customer Contact Centre, ensuring timely and accurate customer billing services and effectively implementing the Uisce Éireann customer strategy.

Connections and Developer Services (CDS) are responsible for the customer engagement and stakeholder relationship management of all connections to the Uisce Éireann network. The CDS team manage the customer journey from development concept design, statutory planning process, pre-connection, technical design, site quality assurance, vesting of new asset and final connection and metering, including developing commercial/technical customer agreements, and managing customer funding in adherence to all technical standards, connection charging policy and governance requirements. CDS are responsible for delivering a highly effective customer service, including reviewing, and implementing solutions to meet changing customer needs. Collaboration with several key business partners is essential for the successful delivery of connections on behalf of the customer.

The CDS Standards & Development Technical Lead will support the development and review of CDS Technical Documents for Self Lay works. The CDS Standards & Development Technical Lead will support the resolution of all matters relating to policy and standards for connections and vesting of Self Lay assets. 

The CDS Standards & Development Technical Lead will drive the resolution of escalated complex queries associated with connection standards. This will include managing unforeseen/complex Quality Assurance matters which arise at various stages of the end- to-end connection process.

The CDS Standards & Development Technical Lead will support the mobilisation of special projects and enhancements in CDS, these will include the development and management of the Experienced Based Accreditation Scheme to facilitate Self Lay in the public road. 

This role will work closely with Asset Management, Asset Operations and Infrastructure Delivery Directorate (IDD) and the wider Uisce Éireann business to ensure consistency with Uisce Éireann’s technical standards. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development and review of CDS Technical Documents for assets to be vested to Uisce Éireann.
  • Provide strong technical input on the interpretation of relevant Uisce Éireann and Water Industry technical standards.
  • Promote the adoption of relevant technical standards and best practices in accordance with the regulatory requirements and organisational objectives. 
  • Support the optimisation of on-site quality assurance processes. 
  • Input on the development of the Experienced Based Accreditation Scheme to facilitate Self Lay in the public road.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions to complex technical issues. 
  • Contribute to the development of business processes/ procedures relating to connections policy.
  • Coordinate and chair technical forums and workshops (internal and external) to address policy and standards considerations, as required.
  • Contribute to achieving Business Score Card Objectives for Customer Operations.
  • Perform other such duties in relation to work and Customer Operations as Uisce Éireann may reasonably require.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards. 
  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
  • Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification in engineering and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable
  • Strong technical knowledge of connections standards, specifications and designs. 
  • Demonstrated people management experience, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience providing coaching in the development of the technical skills and abilities in others
  • Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy requirements
  • Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job

Grade and Salary D (€55,937 - €83,905)*
