Specialist Building Control Manager

Purpose and Function of Post

To actively participate with the application and enforcement of the Building Regulations in respect of building works in the district including:
  • Assessment of structural calculations/details for Building Regulation applications including structural related issues on site where required
  • Professional opinion/investigations to be provided for generic structural issues
  • Assessment of Dangerous Structures as requested on site
  • Advice on structural aspects of Capital Projects
  • Structural Surveys/Reports for Council Building
  • Also providing technical advice, expertise and assessment services to the Council in relation to Structural Engineering matters, including design Services and calculations for other Council led works
  • To deputise for the Building Control Development Manager for both planned and unplanned absence from the service.
  • To be an active member of the Building Control and Service team participating in the ongoing strategic development of the organisation, and implementation of policy in line with the Councils Corporate Plan and the Mid Ulster Community Plan
The Council may retain a list of reserve candidates arising from this recruitment campaign, for any vacancies which may arise which are the same or similar and are of an equal grade of pay. This list will be valid for 12months. “Another similar vacancy” is defined as a post with a similar job description and person specification and on the same salary scale, which may be in a different department or duration to the vacancy initially advertised. Another similar vacancy does not include posts where the similarity relates solely to the salary scale.
