Specific Purpose Whole Time Post (anticipated duration 12 months)
This is an exciting opportunity to join UCC’s in-house legal team who provide a wide range of legal services to ensure the Office of Corporate and Legal Affairs supports the delivery of the University’s strategic plan, provides a framework for good governance, enables innovation and enhances the reputation of the University.
All solicitors carry a varied portfolio of work and each solicitor is aligned to a specific college or functional area. A fixed term vacancyof one year, to cover a career break,now existsfor a solicitor to work primarily with UCC Innovation.
The successful candidate, reporting to the Head of Legal, will participate in the roles and responsibilities of the overall legal team including:
Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documentation;
Provide clear and concise explanations of legal issues to UCC staff at all levels;
Work as part of the inter-disciplinary team, providing high quality and pragmatic legal advice as requested;
Input into the development and review of policies and procedures in accordance with UCC’s policy framework;
Deliver and provide support and/or training to members of UCC on legal and procedural matters where required;
Be proactive in contributing to legal risk management for UCC.
The work in thisroleis diverse and challenging and will provide the successful candidate with interesting experience across a broad range of subjects and the opportunity to developtheir skills, and knowledge while being a part of a high-performing, agile group of professionals that strive for excellence daily.
