Cope Foundation is looking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Social Care Workers on a full-time and part time basis to support a people living in community residences to flourish and lead a life of their choosing.

Rossbarra Ave, Deerpark provides full-time residential and short-break respite accommodation to 31 male and female adults over the age of 18 with an intellectual disability on a seven-day basis.

Consisting of 6 houses, 3 detached buildings with interlinking of 2 houses in each, the development currently supports 28 residents.

This recruitment opportunity will assist in enhancing the overall quality of life for people supported to live in Rosbarra.

Your role will assist in providing person centred opportunities for people living in Rossbarra, along with support for activities of daily living, that can help to develop and maintain links with the wider community.

These positions require a high degree of flexibility and motivation.

The team members will work closely with the individual’s circles of support and their local community.

A commitment to a person-centred, citizen based, social model of support is required.

Focus on supporting the development of valued social roles is essential.

Applicants must possess the following:

Professional Qualifications:

Possess the National Diploma in Childcare awarded by HETAC/DIT

or

Possess the National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies awarded by HETAC/DIT

or

Possess the Diploma in Social Care awarded by awarded by awarded by HETAC/DIT

or

Possess the Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care from DIT

or

Possess a BA (Ord) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 on the QQI framework)

or

Possess Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability)

or

Possess an equivalent qualification

And

Please note social care candidates must be registered with CORU or provide confirmation from CORU that they have commenced the process of registration.

Essential Requirements:

  • Sufficient professional knowledge to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role
  • An understanding of theory and practice in the delivery of individualised supports to people living in their own home
  • An understanding of therapeutic approaches relevant to meet the needs of people
  • Sufficient awareness of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure an appropriate standard of service delivery
  • The capacity to plan and manage resources in an effective and resourceful manner
  • The ability to manage self in a busy working environment including the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Flexibility and openness to change.
  • Possess a Full Clean Driver’s Licence
  • Effective team skills.
  • The ability to resolve conflict and empower people with sometimes quite divergent points of view
  • A commitment to assuring high standards and strive for a person centred service
  • Initiative and innovation in identifying areas for service improvement
  • The ability to evaluate information and make effective decisions in a timely manner
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • The ability to empathise with and treat others with dignity and respect
  • A willingness to develop IT skills relevant to the role
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Knowledge of Person Centred Planning
  • Excellent report writing and organisational skills
  • Display a good working knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards
  • Demonstrate initiative, good interpersonal and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • ·Minimum 12 months experience in a relevant setting
