St. Michael's House is a community based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service and high standard of living to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area. St.Michael’s House is committed to providing individualized supports to people so that they can enjoy experiences, opportunities and lifestyles similar to their peers.

We are presently recruiting for new and exciting positions for full time and part-time Social Care Workers and Direct Support Workers to work in our Social Support Services (LINK).

We have posts available on both the Northside and Southside of the city.

The service supports adults, children and young people on an individual and group basis to engage in their local community for social and recreational purposes in the afternoons, evenings and weekends.

The services offer people the opportunity to socialise independently outside their family unit, to develop new or strengthen existing friendships, develop independence and choice making skills and to try new things!

The ideal Social Care Worker must possess:

· One of the below qualifications

· Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in the area of Intellectual Disability.

· Experience working with service users with Autism Support Needs.

· Experience of supporting individuals to engage in social activities in the community.

· Experience working with Families, Clinicians and building links in the community

· Have a full clean driving license and be willing to undertake driving as part of your role.

· Experience in providing individuals with positive behavior supports.

Applicants must have one or more of the following qualifications:

· QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies (Disability) - Open Training College

· Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of Technology, DIT or National University of Ireland.

The successful Direct Support Worker candidate must have the following:

Intellectual Disability Practice (5M1761)

Community Health Services (5M4468)

Health Service Skills (5M3782)

Healthcare Support (5M4339)

Community Care (5M2786)

Nursing Studies (5M4349)

Essential Experience Required:

  • Have a minimum of 1 year experience working in the area of Intellectual Disability.
  • At least 1 year previous experience of supporting individuals with Intellectual disability
  • Experience of Working with people with Autism
  • Experience of supporting individuals to engage in the community and active participation.
  • Experience providing individuals with positive behaviour supports
  • Experience working with families, clinicians and other networks of support
  • Have a full clean driving license and be willing to undertake driving as part of your role.
  • Experience in providing individuals with positive behavior supports.

Salary Scale – Direct Support Workers: Successful candidates will be paid in line with HSE consolidated Direct Support Worker pay scale point 1; €32,699– point 15; €45,984 per annum based on working a 39 hour working week. Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
