Senior Training Advisor

FUNCTION OF THE JOB This is a Middle Management Administrative Officer Position. The holder of this position will be responsible for the operational delivery, administration, reporting, management of the Sales Team and quality assurance of the of the National Sales Apprenticeship Programme

Roles and Responsibilities include • Support the Training Centre Manager (or designate) in creating and coordinating relevant documentation for QQI revalidation of the sales apprenticeship programme. • Lead preparations of the programme team, CSG and other stakeholders for the QQI revalidation event. • Actively promote the programme to stakeholders. Deliver information briefings to various stakeholders as required including briefings to employers, workplace mentors, apprentices, Authorised Officers, collaborating providers, and instructors to ensure an understanding of the programme, its structure and operations. • Participate in employer engagement activities including, establishing and maintaining effective links with employers, driving the recruitment of employers and apprentices at national level. • Create and maintain a national database of employers, mentors and apprentices. • Manage employer Pre-Approval and Approval application processes and refer applicants to the SOLAS Authorised Office • Coordinate all apprentice registrations with SOLAS Authorised Officers. • Manage national programme scheduling. • Orient incoming apprentices and workplace mentorsto the programme • Liaise with apprentice employers and workplace mentors to keep them updated with programme details • Ensure the programme team have a thorough understanding of assessment procedures and relevant documentation relating to the programme. • Manage the development and production of programme content and the creation of assessments in keeping with the validated programme • Ensuring that all of the necessary resources, facilities, equipment and consumables are available for the operational delivery of the programme. • Ensuring that all learner activities “on the job and off the job” are supported throughout the apprenticeship journey. • Maintain strong reporting links between various stakeholders involved in the apprenticeship programme • Ensure procedures are correctly implemented across Collaborating Providers. • Engage with Collaborating Provider Programme Leaders to ensure quality and consistency in programme delivery. • Convene Collaborating Provider Programme Leader meetings to discuss ongoing operations of their programmes • Implement recommendations and corrective actions from the CSG and National Programme Boards where relevant. • Convene meetings ofthe Consortium Steering Group,National Programme Board and Programme Team. • Chair meetings of the National Programme Board • Liaise with Quality Assurance Officers to ensure QA procedures are adhered to • Lead the programme team in the updating of the programme, ensuring that it is guided by industry, adapting continuously to align with market demands. • Represent MSLETB at national and international events • Lead the organisation of key programme events such as graduation ceremonies • Arrange and lead a Teaching & Learning and Assessment Day off-site for programme team members, instructors, and Collaborating Provider Programme Leader • Lead the revalidation of the programme • Such other duties as may be specified by the Training Centre Manager (or designate)

Note: The functions and responsibilities assigned to this position are based on the current stated role and objectives of Mayo Sligo and Leitrim ETB, these may alter, at any time in line with regular changes in the role and objectives of Mayo Sligo and Leitrim ETB.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent. or Have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or Have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise SKILLS

Have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role. Competencies will be informed by best practice Public Appointment Service Competency Frameworks for the Irish Public Service.

The normal working week is a 35 hours five-day week basis excluding breaks. However, the position of Grade VII Senior Training Advisor may involve additional hours in excess of the standard working week, without additional remuneration. The holder of the office shall not engage in any gainful occupation, other than as an officer of MSLETB, to such an extent as to impair the performance of his or her duties as an officer of MSLETB or in any occupation which might conflict with the interests of MSLETB or which might be inconsistent with discharge of his or her duties as a MSLETB Officer.

Probation The successful candidate shall serve a probationary period in accordance with the terms set out in MSL ETB’s Probationary Policy.

Salary The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. Holders of the office shall pay to MSLETB any fees or other monies (other than their inclusive salary) payable to or received by them by virtue of their office or in respect of any services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. Salary scale and entry point on this scale will be determined in accordance with Circulars issued by the Department of Education. The current scale for this post is as per Circular Letter: 0045/2024. Rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.

Sick Leave Pay during properly certified sick absence, provided there is no evidence of permanent disability for service, will apply on a pro-rata basis, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation and Department of Education sick leave circulars.

Location/Base The successful candidate will initially be assigned to the MSL ETB Training Centre, Sligo. Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board reserves the right to assign you to any other location or base that is under the control of Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board, as the need arises. Any change in location or base by Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board will not be deemed as redeployment as provided for under the Public Service Agreements.
