Senior Staff Officer

Principal duties and responsibilities: The successful candidate will be appointed to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Teaching and Learning (VPAATL), and will report to the Assistant Registrar. This reporting line, as well as the duties assigned to the individual, are subject to change, based on the needs of the department and the development of the new university infrastructure, and as determined by the VPAATL. The areas currently being assigned are: - Organising and managing annual conferring events. - Implementing, supporting and developing QA policies, procedures and processes. - Managing and initiating quality assurance projects and activities. - Producing reports based on the analysis of key university quality data. - Managing and leading team and project group members.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and dynamic person, capable of managing and contributing to a range of activities relating to the maintenance and enhancement of policies, procedures and processes, providing advice and guidance to university staff with regard to same, and administering and directing relevant projects and processes, as determined by the VPAATL.

The successful candidate will: 1. Demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, and to provide support for and manage specific areas as required, assuming personal responsibility for delivering work and projects successfully and to a high standard. 2. Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage teams. 3. Have experience of contributing to policy development, as well as the implementation/management and enhancement of policies, procedures and processes. 4. Have demonstrable experience of evaluating data and information, including interrogating and analysing quantitative and qualitative information. 5. Demonstrate the capacity to share their opinion(s) with colleagues and stakeholders in a constructive manner. 6. Show evidence of the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and in a timely fashion, reprioritising tasks depending on the needs of the department and the university, including contingency planning for any potential impediments. 7. Have excellent communication and persuasive skills, verbally and in writing, as well as the ability to engage with colleagues and the university’s stakeholders in a cogent, logical, and clear manner. 8. Display the ability to maintain consistent effort during busy periods and in the event of changing priorities. 9. Demonstrate flexibility and the capacity to adapt and contribute to the implementation of change. 10. Show a clear understanding of the university’s education provision, service delivery and operating context, nationally and internationally, as well as knowledge of the wider education system and relevant developments. Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills: Desirable

• A relevant Honours degree (first or second class) or equivalent professional qualification • A higher qualification (Master’s or Doctorate) or equivalent • At least 3 years of working directly in the area of quality assurance in an education or related domain • Experience in developing, delivering and enhancing training programmes and/or workshops

Essential • Excellent record maintenance skills • Knowledge of data collection, entry and management techniques Salary Scale: €55,092 - €67,306 per year
