The successful candidate will be based on site in a Special School in the Mayfield area (Cork City).
Horizons is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Speech and Language Therapist in paediatric services. The successful applicant will work in a Special School in Mayfield, as a member of a Children’s Disability Network Team.
This post will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to:
- Develop their clinical knowledge of a wide range of disabilities and neurodivergent presentations from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
- Experience collaborative working across health and education, including development of resources, delivery of training and provision of individual and small group interventions.
- Prescribe appropriate supportive equipment for the school environment.
- Collaborate with the child’s wider support system, including their family and base CDNT, to support children with their school based goals.
Applicants must possess the following:
- A BSc in Speech & Language Therapy or its’ equivalent is required.
- The successful applicant must be CORU registered
- Have 3 years post qualification experience
- Hold a full clean driving licence and have their own vehicle at the time of application.
- Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
- Experience of working with children with disabilities for a minimum of 1 year is essential
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
- Experience in the area of Paediatric Dysphagia
- Experience working with children and young people who are autistic
