Senior Medical Scientist, Histology
Purpose of the role:
The post holder should support the delivery of a quality histology service in compliance with best practice and the requirements of international standard ISO 15189.
Essential Criteria:
• Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology (A)
or
• Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology course {B)
or
• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology award ed prior to 1994 (C)
and
• Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/Mayo Institute of Tech no logy (awarded prior to 1997) (C)
OR
• A recognised qualification at least equivalent to {A) (B) or (C) above;
and
• A post graduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science
OR
• Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
and
• Have at least 4 years' experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a
Medical Scientist.
• Have experience of working in a Histology Laboratory
and
Be registered with CORU or be eligible for registration
OR
Be currently registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
