POST OF: PERMANENT PART-TIME SENIOR BEHAVIOUR THERAPIST

The Role:

The Senior Behaviour Therapist will be a member of the Behaviour Support Department. They will use a rights based, person centred, holistic, and positive behaviour support informed approach to provide assessment and intervention services for adults with intellectual disability receiving supports from the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland- West Region (Roscommon). A multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary working approach will be undertaken.

Objectives of the Post:

  • To work as a Senior Behaviour Therapist using a Positive Behaviour Support approach to support individuals, staff and families etc in relation to behaviours that challenge.
  • To complement the individual planning approach of the service and to provide positive behaviour support in the context of person-centered planning.
  • To contribute to the overall objectives and requirements of the organization by providing a high quality of support at a Senior Behaviour Therapist level undertaking duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Psychology/Behaviour Support or person delegated by the Head of Psychology/Behaviour Support.

Works With:

Adults with complex disabilities, staff and families in locations such as:

• Residential and Respite locations;

• Family homes;

• Day service settings;

• Any other relevant location and with other agencies;

• Members of the multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team; direct support staff; managers; and relevant agencies.

Qualifications/Experience Essential:

• An undergraduate degree in a relevant health service area (e.g., psychology or nursing) and an accredited Masters’ level postgraduate qualification which incorporates the principles of behaviour, functional assessment, function-based interventions, and applied settings (e.g., health services or schools) for supervised training placements.

• 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification experience working as a Behaviour Therapist.

• Minimum of two years’ experience working as a Behaviour Therapist for people who present with an intellectual disability

• A full drivers’ licence and use of a car is essential.

Qualifications/Experience Desirable:

• A Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) qualification OR eligibility to achieve this certification is an advantage OR an equivalent status.

• Experience of working with adults who present with an intellectual disability.

• Experience of working with families and direct support staff teams

• Experience of providing clinical supervision.

Remuneration:

Department of Health Senior Play Therapist salary scale (01/10/2024) - €62,038 x 8 increments - €73,048 pro-rata per annum.

Annual Leave:

29 days pro-rata per annum.

Tenure:

This post is permanent, part-time and pensionable.

Travel/Base:

The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish indemnity from insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the HSE rates is paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty. The position will be based within West Region (Roscommon) and based initially at Roscommon Offices base which may change due to developing service needs in future.
