The Role

The Sector Manager works as part of the Region’s Senior Management Team to provide dynamic and progressive programme leadership and management through which the services in the assigned Sector can be maintained and further developed in Cork. This requires a personal commitment to the vision, mission and ethos of the Services which should be evident from consistency between words, actions and leadership style.

Emphasis is placed on fostering a team-based approach that includes Persons Supported, their support network, staff, and the broader community. The successful candidate will ensure that the interests and voices of each Person Supported remain central to the delivery and development of services. The appointee is expected to have a high level of flexibility, and a willingness and ability to develop new approaches to their work.

The Sector Manager manages several Area Managers and reports to the Director of Services for the operational management of assigned services. A key aspect of the role involves planning and developing services within the Region, in collaboration with other Sector Managers, Heads of Discipline, and Heads of Function, all working together to implement the Services Strategic Plan. The Post Holder is a member of Senior Management Team and is also a member of various functional and oversight committees linked with the Services Governance & Management structures

More about the Role:-

The Post Holder is

  • a member of Senior Management Team and is also a member of various functional and oversight committee linked with the Services Governance & Management structures e.g. Admission Committee for Day and Residential Services, Adult Respite Committee, Management and Monitoring Committee to oversee work of Designated Function on Safeguarding Issues, Member of Residential Services Steering Committee and an active member of the Provider inspection teams, Member of Quality Steering Committee, Member of Complex Case Forum, Member of the New Directions Steering Group on Day Service Standards and an active member of inspections in relation to same etc.
  • The Services may reconfigure the caseload of Sector Managers from time to time in response to changing governance and management requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Be professionally qualified and maintain current registration with relevant professional body
  • Have a level 8 or higher health related 3rd level qualification on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework in nursing/social care or health science
  • Have a relevant management qualification
  • Have a minimum 10 years post qualification experience, ideally 5 years of which must be at senior management level.
  • Considerable experience through their work of enabling, empowering and inspiring individuals to live independent and meaningful lives and to be at the center of all decisions relating to their life.
  • Possess excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills together with up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and practice in Services for individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Have experience of applying HIQA standards and legislative requirements
  • Have excellent knowledge of current policy and developments in the intellectual disability field.
  • Have a good understanding of the Ethos of the Brothers of Charity Services
  • Have a thorough understanding of the organization’s strategic aim to provide for the equal Human Rights of each individual supported by the Services
  • Have good knowledge of IR/ER issues

Accountable to: Director of Service Southern Region or such other authorised person as the Employing Authority may designate*

Annual leave: 30 days per annum

Salary Scale: Grade VIII Scale as at 01/10/2024€79,847 to €96,305 (7 Point Scale)
