PACE Is looking for A Safer Lives Facilitator to join our Prevention Services Team.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional to provide support to our therapeutic groups, with the ability to build rapport with participants and other professionals who respects diverse opinions, anticipates challenges and plans accordingly.

Reports to: Prevention Services Manager

Working Hours: 39-hour week

Contract: Three-year fixed term contract and is subject to funding

Probation Period: 6 months

Starting Salary: €55k – €60k DOE

Holidays: 24 days annually

About PACE Prevention Services

PACE Prevention Services consists of three programmes that work with people with convictions for harmful sexual behaviour who are considered to be at significant risk of reoffending sexually. The focus of the Prevention Services is on managing and reducing the risk of re-offending. Those who commit sexual offences are not an homogeneous group therefore our interventions aim to be responsive to the diversity of this client group. These three programmes operate in a desistance framework and are:

1. Safer Lives Treatment programme,

2. Foothold Floating Support Service

3. CoSA (Circles of Support and Accountability)

About Safer Lives Treatment Programme

The Safer Lives Treatment programme, delivered in Partnership with the Irish Probation Service, is a group therapeutic programme designed to assist men to understand their offending behaviour and the harm it caused, to develop the knowledge and skills to live a life that is safer for themselves, their families and their communities, incorporating a ‘Good Lives’ and a desistance approach. Our interventions focus on supporting individuals to take full responsibility for their harmful sexual behaviour and to identify and adopt new goals that are personally meaningful, and congruent with desistance processes.

Safer Lives works collaboratively with the Probation Service to address risk and enhance . community engagement of participants. Safer Lives currently operates in Dublin and Cork.

The Safer Lives Treatment Co-facilitator role:

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Facilitating the delivery of a safe, supervised treatment programme for people convicted of harmful sexual behaviour on a group and individual basis by:

  • Co-facilitating a therapeutic strengths-based programme to support the clients in desisting from further offending behaviour
  • Linking with the Probation Service on the referral of clients who meet the entry criteria;
  • Assessing and screening all referrals to the Safer Lives Treatment programme based on the SOTIPS, in conjunction with Safer Lives Team.
  • Implementing programme policies and procedures ensuring that models of best . practice are in place at all times
  • Using therapeutic training to run the group programme in agreement with the Co- facilitator and Prevention service manager.
  • Facilitating case conferences with external agencies to address clients support needs
  • Undertaking case reviews for each participant with the supervising Probation Officer present
  • Reporting to the PS Manager on case management issues that impact on the clinical governance of the programme.
  • Maintaining an accurate system of recording all client contact, inputting client information into the Client Record Management system

2. Facilitating the delivery of treatment programmes through:

  • Providing therapeutic groupwork on a weekly basis x two or three different treatment groups and in different locations. One group takes place outside Dublin on a weekly basis. One group is currently run online.
  • Providing individual theraputic interventions for clients (including high risk clients).
  • Monitoring progress of clients within the treatment group and programme
  • Undertaking clinical assessments where appropriate
  • Using psychometric tools as diagnostic instruments to assist with interventions where appropriate
  • Participating in assessments and reviews of clients
  • When available, facilitating the post-treatment programme

3. Responsible for on-going development of the treatment services through:

  • Facilitating the delivery of the treatment programme in Various locations
  • Preparing summary report of activities and statistics;
  • Liaising with and supporting other PACE Prevention Services programmes
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development where appropriate.
  • Contributing to the further development of the Safer Lives programme.

4. Participating in programme activities through:

  • Attending bi weekly staff meetings and regular meetings with the PS Manager as line manager
  • Participating in ongoing supervision and evaluation;
  • Participating in a performance appraisal system
  • Making presentations about the programme at various training days and events where appropriate and as requested
  • Representing PACE at external conferences and training when requested.
  • Providing support to other PACE clients who are not within the Prevention Services, when appropriate.

5. Assisting the administration of the treatment programme through:

  • Providing regular reports to the PACE Prevention Services Manager
  • Participation in team meetings
  • Taking minutes at team meetings
  • Setting up appointments for clients
  • Liaising with Probation Officers regarding client information
  • Maintaining client confidentiality at all times
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Maintaining a database of all referrals and outcomes
  • Submitting monthly returns of clients
  • Updating case notes and group notes on a weekly basis
  • Representing PACE at external conferences/training as requested.
  • Complying with PACE GDPR policy re the sharing of information
  • Maintaining appropriate confidentiality within the programme

6. Any other duties as designated by the PACE Prevention Services Manager/CEO

Qualifications:

Qualified to post-graduate level in Social Work, Psychology or Psychotherapy.

Must be currently registered with a professional body, such as IACP, IASW/CORU, ICP or be a Chartered member of PSI.

Documented evidence of eligibility for accreditation is essential.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working effectively with complex clients.
  • Experience of interagency work.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice
  • system
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and proven record keeping statistical data.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma on offending behaviour
  • Knowledge of managing a client with suicidal ideation
  • To have a clear understanding of professional boundaries in relation to service users and colleagues from within and outside the service.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working on relevant treatment programmes.
  • Experience of working with people with mental health issues.
  • Experience of working with people with an offending history.
  • Experience of co-facilitating groups.
  • Knowledge of mental health services in the community.
  • Standard First Aid.
