About the role

We are looking for a RD&A Technician that will work on developing new dairy and snacking products for our Dairy Consumer Foods business. The purpose of the role is to support the development of brilliant products led by consumer insight and aligned to nutritional and sustainability targets. The successful candidate will be based in Charleville, Co. Cork, Ireland.

Key responsibilities

  • As part of the product innovation team, you will work alongside the R&D Manager and Senior Technologists bringing new & exciting products through the development process ready for handover to site NPI teams.
  • Ownership of sensory assessment, compositional and shelf-life studies for the R&DA team.
  • Support sample management and sample preparation for internal and external presentation.
  • Develop recipes on bench top, pilot plant and work alongside factory team on operational validation. This will include occasional travel to manufacturing sites in the UK & Ireland.
  • Consider raw material costs, operational efficiencies, and technical constraints prior to developing propositions. 
  • Build relationships with Operations, Marketing and Commercial and ensure Customer care and adherence to the Kerry Purpose, Dairy Strategy, Vision, and Values 
  • Actively participate in idea generation and conversion of ideas to pipeline. 
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, restrictions, regulations, customer requirements and processes.
  • Seeing ahead to future possibilities of emerging technologies and novel ingredients, translating them into breakthrough strategies & products if applicable.

Qualifications and skills

  • BSc in food science or equivalent 
  • Project management and organisational skills 
  • Keen interest in innovation and novel foods. 
  • Driven to overcome challenges and develop timely solutions. 
  • Good understanding of food industry and market focus 
  • Experience or knowledge of dairy science particularly in cheese, yogurt or milk processing is desirable but not essential.
