City of Dublin Education and Training Board (City of Dublin ETB) was established on 1st July 2013 under the Education and Training Boards Act, 2013. City of Dublin ETB has 3,000 employees and an annual budget of €580m. It is the state education and training authority for Dublin city and serves the area covered by Dublin City Council. This provision is delivered to over 48,000 learners (20,000 full-time and 28,000 part-time) and is supported by a range of services including a psychological service, a curriculum development unit, a buildings maintenance unit and Head Office staff in Ballsbridge. It also has statutory responsibility for supporting the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of youth work services in Dublin city and is the lead partner for Music Generation Dublin City. City of Dublin ETB is also responsible for the national awarding authority for student grants in Ireland, Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI).

The Migrant Access Programme (MAP) is a learner-centred transition programme that prepares young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, in particular Separated Children Seeking Asylum, for mainstream school or training and life in Ireland. It is particularly designed for those leaners who have recently arrived in Ireland, are new to English and have disrupted education backgrounds.

The programme aims to develop the students’ English language and literacy, while at the same time developing their overall learning, personal and interpersonal skill-set to help them integrate into school and life in Ireland. Students receive 20 hours per week tuition in English, Maths, Life Skills and basic IT, and take part in a range of after-school activities. Students are from diverse linguistic, cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds and range in age from 15-18.

Location of Position: The position will be based in 7 Upper Sherrard Street, Dublin 1.

Salary: €36,885 - €54,792 (pro rata) per annum of the Youthreach Resource salary scale. Successful candidates will be paid at point 01 of the salary scale unless they have previous relevant public sector service.

Annual Leave: 35 working days per annum (pro rata). Normally leave may only be taken outside of term time.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week.

Summary of Position: The Migrant Integration Project supports the Migrant Access Programme. We are seeking a Resource Worker who is flexible, can work in a busy environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team and who has a commitment to equality, inclusion and working with young people from diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Essential Requirements:

• A qualification to a minimum Level 7 NQF in the field of Youth and / or Community Work, Social Care or Social Studies. • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with young people in a youth work or similar setting in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Desirable Requirements:

• Understanding and experience of supporting young people with refugee or migrant backgrounds. • Understanding and experience of trauma informed practice and awareness of mental health needs. • The motivation and ability to work in a busy environment as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to be pro-active and work on own initiative. • Good organisational and record keeping skills. • Understanding of Child Safeguarding Legislation and Policies. • Understanding and experience of identifying young person’s needs and building trusting, supportive professional relationships. • Experience or understanding of interpersonal conflict resolution or restorative practice approaches.

Applicants will also be required to declare any entitlements to a Public Service pension benefit (in payment or preserved) from any other Public Service employment and/or where they have received a payment-in-lieu in respect of service in any Public Service employment.
