Research Centre Administrator

Basic Function: 

The primary function of this role is to carry out front of house duties for the Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation as well as providing administrative support to research departments.

Background: 

Moorepark Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre has played a pivotal role in the development of the Irish dairy industry. Since its establishment by the Irish Government in 1959, Moorepark has evolved to become the focal point of research on milk production in Ireland. As the National Dairy Research Centre, Moorepark is responsible for all aspects of dairy production research.

Job Objectives
  • Reception duties at Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre (AGRIC) including directing visitors and calls appropriately.
  • Liaise with guests of the AGRIC and direct them to their destination.
  • Reservation of meeting rooms within the AGRIC.
  • Booking of couriers, taxis and other such duties as and when required.
  • Co-ordinating security regulations for visitors to the centre, issuing security passes, and managing sign-in sheets as and when required.
  •  Act as the main point of contact for information requests or queries related to the AGRIC.
  • Raise electronic requisitions (RSS) on behalf of departmental staff within the AGRIC.
  • Maintain a stock of stationery/other consumables for the departments.
  • Facilitate the process of recruiting and administrating the induction of students and staff within the AGRIC. Provide organisational support in the running of departmental conferences and meetings.
  •  Provide organizational support to the management of the vehicle fleet operated by Teagasc
  • Provide support to the operation of the multi-media equipment utilized in the different meeting rooms
  • Provide administration support to the farms operated as part of the enterprise
  •  Identify means of streamlining existing office procedures.
  •  Update AGRIC databases.
  •  Communicate issues with Teagasc staff and act as point of contact for public events as required.
  • Provide admin support for Academic Programmes as required.
  • To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan.
  • To actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
  • Fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations. This includes full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 qualification or passed an examination at the appropriate level within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) which can be assessed as being comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher
  •  At least 1 year of administration experience.

Skills/ Knowledge 

  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  •  Good organisational & time management skills. 
  • Strong administrative & numeracy skills.

Salary:  Admin Grade 2 with a Salary Scale of €29,297 to €46,449 per year
