We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Relief Driverto join our team in Cork.

Contract Type: Relief Contract

Contract Hours: Hours of work to be worked over Monday – Friday and will be assigned to meet the needs of the service and may involve split shift working eg 8.00am-10.00am mornings and 3.00pm-5.00pm afternoons and occasional evenings. The need for a relief mini bus driver will be reviewed on a regular basis. These reviews may have a direct impact on the amount of hours, either increasing or decreasing, being worked by you. You will be required to submit timesheets for hours worked. You may be requested to work only for morning runs and/or evening runs as required by the needs of the service.

Location: Adult Day Services Cork (Ballintemple, Carrigaline, Ballincollig)

Salary Scale: €31,329 - €34,832 pro rata per annum (€15.45 per hour - €17.17 per hour).

Annual Leave Entitlement: Annual leave entitlement is 10.7% of hours worked.

Overview of the Post: · To provide skilled driving duties to meet the transport needs of adult service owners attending the Enable Ireland Cork Adult Services.

The successful candidate will have

Essential Criteria:

  • A Clean Full Class B Vehicle Licence
  • Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience
  • Be eligible to work in the state
  • Excellent knowledge of road safety and highway code
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards Adults with a disability and their parents/carers
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of the philosophy and work undertaken in and by Enable
  • Excellent driving skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake the safe lifting of clients and manual handling in line with staff training and accepted good practice.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake regular vehicle maintenance in line with Transport guidelines or as requested by Line Manager
  • Ability and willingness to complete all documentation as required by Transport guidelines and Line Manager
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and professional staff
  • Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, use own initiative and to seek advice when necessary.
  • Ability to take instruction, give feedback.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and equal opportunities.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible in work and be responsive to changing demands.

Desirable Criteria:

  • First Aid Training
  • Experience in driving accessible passenger vehicles
  • Experience of driving a mini bus or large vehicle
  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Experience working with adults with a disability
  • To demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of routine vehicular maintenance.
