QC Technician

Job Overview

The QC Technician will be responsible for assisting in daily laboratory tasks, aiding the Quality Control Team. It will be the Technicians responsibility to oversee the calibration/verification of laboratory equipment on a daily basis. The technician will be expected to assist QC analysts with preparation of chemicals and reagents necessary for analytical assessment. On occasion it will be a requirement that the QC technician carry out raw material analysis including but not limited to wet chemistry and/or HPLC/GC. The QC technician will also be expected to assist in the preparation and organization of department documentation.

Main Tasks/Activities:
  • Daily calibration/verification of Laboratory Equipment
  • Preparation of Laboratory reagents and Chemicals
  • Wet Chemistry
  • HPLC/GC Analysis
  • To log samples into the laboratory record book
  • Preparation/maintenance of laboratory documentation
  • General Housekeeping Duties
  • Training and directing new analysts in performing their functions to a GMP standard.
  • Responsible for adhering to all relevant Health & Safety procedures at all times.
  • To carry out any duties as deemed necessary by management.
Essential Criteria:

Applicants must therefore demonstrate the following essential criteria on their application form in order to be considered:
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above or 2 years’ experience in a GMP environment
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good communication, both oral and written
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable Criteria:

Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the following desirable criteria:
  • Experience in a GMP regulated chemistry laboratory.
Duration: Full time, Permanent

Location: Newry

Additional Information:
  • This role will be based in a site that produces and handles penicillin, and as such, this role would not be suitable for those that have a penicillin allergy.
