The Head of Disability Services is open to engagement in respect of flexibility around location within the South Tipperary, Carlow/Kilkenny, Waterford or Wexford areas.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Principal Social Worker from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

The Principal Social Worker is responsible for the effective delivery of a quality social work services responsive to the needs of service users and their families and that functions effectively as an integrated element of wider Health Services.

Information about the Social Care Services:

The establishment of a Social Care Service to support the ongoing service requirements of children and adults with disabilities is an important step in moving forward with the design and implementation of models of care which will support and maintain children and adults to live at home and/or in their own community. The objective is to promote their independence and lifestyle choice in as far as possible: People with disabilities with care needs must be provided with a continuum of services such as therapeutic services, home support, personal assistance, outreach, respite, day care and shared or short-term residential care to avoid unnecessary acute hospital admissions and have their required treatments & supports delivered within their local community at primary care level in as far as possible. These types of services must be responsive to service user needs and be provided flexibly at the least possible unit cost to build a sustainable system into to the future.
