Introduction: Bryson Pathways through its Training and Employment team deliver a range of Vocational Training and employability programmes to young people and the unemployed. For over 30 years it has successfully managed and delivered a wide range of qualifications, training, and employment programmes.

Job Purpose: The Placement Officer will be responsible for securing work placements and world of work activities through employer engagement for participants on the Skills for Life and Work programme.

Principle Duties: • To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Programme Operational Requirements. • To plan, develop and implement an Employer Engagement Strategy. • To provide Careers Information Advice and Guidance and support to participants in relation to the work placement experience. • To source, contact and make presentations to employers where necessary. • To ensure work placement targets are met in terms of KPIs/Pulses. • To monitor the health and safety awareness of participants in the workplace. • To assist employers maximise training and work experience opportunities. • Maintain regular and ongoing engagement with both employer and participant. • To take remedial action, where appropriate, to promptly address issues arising. • To maximise participant opportunities in terms of progression to Apprenticeships, further and higher education and employment. • To liaise with Vocational, Essential Skills and Employability Tutors in relation to progression towards training objectives. • Develop and manage integrated and user-friendly processes and procedures to maintain records covering all aspects of participant and employer contact. • To ensure all operational and administrative aspects of Programme are adhered to and meet quality standards in line with DfE and ETI requirements. • To represent the organisation on employer forums, economic networks, community boards and groups where appropriate. • To manage, collate and disseminate programme information to Department for the Economy, ETI, and Management Team. • To ensure monitoring, review and evaluation is ongoing and appropriate.

General: • To comply with all Bryson policies and procedures (as applicable) • To maintain service user confidentiality and adhere to the Bryson Pathways Data Protection Policy. • To adhere to a Code of Practice relevant to Equal Opportunities and the promotion of social inclusion. • To keep records and provide reports (verbally and in writing) to relevant stakeholders. • To attend and complete training as required. • To participate in the supervision and team meeting process. • Bryson Pathways staff are expected to carry out their own administrative/IT work, including word processing, internet research, e-mail, maintenance of records, timesheets, expenses and answering direct phone calls.

This job description is not definitive and may be subject to review. Criteria Qualifications / Education / Knowledge • Educated to a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English • Working knowledge of current Training & Employment Programmes Previous Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of strategic engagement with Employers
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in young people.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a Careers Information Advice and Guidance role

Skills & Abilities

• Hold a valid full driving licence with access to own transport. • Ability to work to towards targeted outcomes and deadlines. • Self-reliant and able to work on own initiative, reacting appropriately to changing circumstances • Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills • Strong written and oral communications, including ability to present issues clearly and concisely to a wide variety of audiences • Demonstrate excellent professional practice when engaging positively with employers and participants Other requirements • Hold a full driving licence • Access to own transport for work purposes as and when required
