Our planned new state-of-the-art Women’s Health Centre will combine a comprehensive range of services under one roof, in a prominent Dublin City Centre location. From expert consultations, diagnostic testing to specialized treatments, we will support women through their healthcare journey.
ROLE PURPOSE
Perform as part of a team within the Phlebotomy department and throughout the laboratory, if and when required, to ensure the Laboratory delivers a quality service to the Users of the service. Work towards meeting the quality objectives of the Laboratory and the Blackrock Clinic. The collection of blood samples, by venepuncture or cannulation, from patients who have been referred to the department by their medical practitioner. Provide safe submission of samples to the Pathology Department for required analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Certificate in Phlebotomy from the National Ambulance service College or equivalent qualification.
· Evidence of personal professional development.
· Current experience in Phlebotomy essential
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Skills
· Identification of patients.
· Interpretation of test requests.
· Venepuncture by: Vacutainer system, Butterfly system
· Cannulation (Cannulation may only be performed after specialist training, which has been approved.)
· Function effectively in an emergency situation.
· Adapt to changing workloads.
· Submission of samples, with the relevant, completed paperwork, to the Pathology Laboratory.
· Work in accordance with CLSI Guidelines

· Collaborate with other health care team members within the defined clinical area to provide excellent care and an efficient service
