JOB PURPOSE
Fáilte Ireland invites applications for the position of Officer, Ireland’s Ancient East. The role will report to the Manager, Ireland’s Ancient East. At a destination/county level, we support the overarching Ireland’s Ancient East ambition as set out in the Regional Tourism Development Strategy. The two core areas of the role are key account management of tourism businesses and destination development in partnership with key stakeholders, both within a defined county/destination geography within Ireland’s Ancient East.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT
Build committed stakeholder and industry partnerships to guide sustainable destination development across the region.
Work across a defined geography in Ireland's Ancient East to include Cork City, Cork Harbour & East Cork, to build a committed industry and stakeholder network to guide and coordinate the sustainable development of the local destination and experience development plan and the wider IAE region. This includes engagement with individual industry as well as design and development of supporting activation programmes at a destination level support the destination’s development vision.
Ensure buy-in to the Regional Tourism Development Strategy and agree annual priorities with relevant Local Authority to support this.
Support the delivery and activation of any capital investment projects within the destination/county
INDUSTRY AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as local authorities, public agencies, and tourism industry partners to collectively deliver agreed plans and objectives
Work with and harness industry and destination networks to actively collaborate to gain buy-in and commitment on project priorities and areas of focus
Work with stakeholders and businesses to develop & enhance their tourism offering
KEY ACCOUNT RESPONSIBILITIES
Key account management of tourism businesses through a one-to-one process
Enable and assist the industry to grow its capacity and capability to enhance is commercial success and create sustainable jobs in local communities.
Ensuring collection and in-depth analysis of business performance data from key accounts
Apply commercial knowledge to identify business critical issues and support business to embrace opportunities for growth.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The role also requires supporting relevant projects to the destination with other Fáilte Ireland divisions such as Enterprise Development, Commercial Development, Product Development, Digital That Delivers and Marketing. This work will include supporting training workshops, developing capital projects, publicity and media requests, trade events, and coordination local content for marketing and sales campaigns.
Carry out all other duties as required and participate as a member of the Ireland’s Ancient East team by supporting different work projects, as required, from time to time across the team and broader organisation. This role requires regular domestic travel and there may be a requirement for international travel.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
An excellent communicator both orally and written, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
An ability to build rapport with stakeholders both internally and externally.
Demonstrated track record of commercial aptitude, understanding the key drivers of commercial success and contribute effectively to problem solving and decision making by providing commercial insights * Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills
The ability to influence within an organisation
In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must have / demonstrate in your application form the following
Minimum of three years’ experience in a role with relevant experience
Experience of managing key stakeholders’ relationships. * A track record of commercial aptitude
Own means of Transport / Full Driving Licence
QUALIFICATIONS/MANDATORY TRAINING
A professional qualification (minimum Level 6 under the QQI Framework) in a related discipline is essential
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Proven track record in destination development/ tourism experience development projects
Experience working with both public and private stakeholders and an understanding of their operating models.
Project management methodology qualification/ experience.
Masterplan development
Proven record of working within a team environment

SALARY
Salary: €54,596 - €78,073* per annum *This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at Point 1 of the relevant Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role.
