About This Role:

Role Purpose

Electrical Engineer in the Mobile Field Operations department with responsibility to ensure the BSS and TXN network is maintained and operating efficiently for eir Mobile Network Operations.

Expectations From The Role:

Key deliverables

  • Assist Field Operations in the management of the Mobile Access Site Portfolio to ensure efficient network availability SLA’s are maintained

  • Assist Field Operations in Electrical Reactive maintenance of BSS, TXN, DC Power Systems & Environmental equipment.

  • Assist Field Operations in the Planned Preventative Electrical Maintenance of BSS, TXN, DC Power Systems & Environmental equipment.

  • Provide Electrical support for new Vendor rollout. Ensure new installs are compliant with ETCI regulations.

  • Support the Mobile Battery Program

  • Provide electrical support for special event sites.

  • Assist FOP’s with Generator deployment , particularly in storm mop up scenarios

  • Ensure that the company’s Health & Safety policies are adhered to with regard to Mobile Access Network Operations

Accountability

  • Routinely inspect new Vendor site builds/upgrades and identify and report any anomalies or deviations from the agreed SOP.

  • Ensure new installations are ETCI compliant

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety obligations with specific regard to the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act

  • Support the Mobile Battery Program.

  • Coordinate and schedule Battery works including Battery testing/removal /replacement

  • Track and document all Battery works , from initial Remedy assignment to completion

  • Responsible for supporting Field Operations resources for AC/DC electrical issues.

  • Battery testing on backup power supply systems.

  • Thermal Imaging of AC/DC circuits.

  • Support the continual improvement of the Field Operations processes and systems to ensure services meet or exceed customers ‘ expectations

  • To support and contribute to the quality of Field Operations output and instigate changes and improvements where required with the Operations Specialist SME resource

  • To continuously review and improve the Mobile Access Network Deployment & Operations Design Guide with specific input to the Field Operations electrical requirements

  • Assist Field Operations to ensure the quick and accurate analysis and resolution of alarms in line with Network SLA’s

  • Develop and maintain good relations with Mobile Access Operations Vendors & 3rd party ASP’s, site providers and local interested groupings and authorities

  • Align with eir Group culture and values to drive the customer ethos, vision, mission and culture of the organisation to ensure successful growth and retention of its customers

Requirements For A Successful Application:

Role Specific Technical Skills

  • RECI certified Electrician with QC qualification and up to date knowledge of ETCI regulations.

  • Five years’ experience in the telecommunications industry in an O&M role.

  • Detailed understanding of mobile networks.

  • High level of technical knowledge and experience with multi-vendor and multi-technology radio access network equipment, MW and Fibre Transmission equipment.

  • Electrical working experience on DC Battery and -48v Telecoms systems.

  • Experience with Eltek and Powerone PSU’s

  • Problem solving and fault diagnosis skills

  • Advanced computer skills.

  • Demonstrate high attention to detail, excellent documentation and communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a team atmosphere and work interactively across multiple departments.

  • Information exchange is a significant feature of the role with a necessity to clarify information of a more complex nature. There is a requirement for tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.

  • Full Clean Drivers Licence Required.
