Maintenance Planner

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the start-up of Kilkenny Cheese Limited. Kilkenny Cheese is a joint venture between Tirlán and Dutch family business Royal A-ware, a 130-year-old company with strong positions in EU and global markets. The facility is to be located at a greenfield site adjacent to Tirlán’s specialised nutrition facility at Belview, Co Kilkenny.

Role Summary

Based in Belview in South Kilkenny this roles reports to the Maintenance Manager This role is a key interface between maintenance and production functions onsite and will be responsible for developing work plans that ensure safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance in line with standards of the food industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owner of CMMS systems for Kilkenny Cheese Ltd Maintenance function. 
  • Scheduling of all planned planned/preventative maintenance in conjunction with resource scheduler/production planner. 
  • Ensure correct tools, parts and equipment are present for planned and reactive maintenance – including the creation of Job plans 
  • Management of short term contractors coming to site for planned maintenance functions. 
  • Responsible for periodic review, analysis & adjustment of PM plans, to reflect historical breakdown data and on-going criticality analysis of all equipment. 
  • Ensure key performance indicators are captured and reported for equipment reliability, departmental performance (KPI – Reliability, Uptime, PM Schedule Adherence, Production Impacts), forecasted maintenance activity and scheduled business flow process;
  • Analyse data and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance related problems, provide CBA or comms to support ;
  • Responsible for sanitary maintenance program 
  • Ensures compliance of all users to Maintenance process flow for request for work, parts & cost approval 
  • Implementing program with existing and new maintenance team members and Production. 
  • Coordinate plant shutdowns to attain all essential spare parts & work schedules, ensure planned work completion and manage planned cost. 
  • Establish, maintain and improve the maintenance planning and scheduling business flow process to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Develop cost and time estimate of planned maintenance work; 
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Manager to schedule manpower and resource for planned maintenance work;
  • Support the closure of Event reports, RCA’s, SIM’s, Leaks and Hygiene ensuring plant is always Audit ready
  • Support proactively all EH&S and Quality procedures and policies 

Experience

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • An in-depth understanding of manufacturing operations and equipment. 
  • Work to ‘best practice’ techniques such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma/GPS and drive Continuous Improvement projects
  • Proficient user of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and experience using M3 CMMS system (or simliar) is desirable 
  • Experience in the Dairy, Food & Beverage or Pharma sector is desirable 

Person Profile

  • Knowledge of Dairy or similar food processing industry 
  • Ability to manage a range of complex projects to completion 
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
