Library Assistant

Academic Support Specialist

Reporting to the Reader Services Manager, the Part-time Library Assistant is a student-facing role based at the Reference Desk of the DBS Library and Academic Hub. The role's primary focus is to provide in-person and online reference and lending services to all Library users. Excellent customer service and flexibility are essential. 

Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist Library users with queries regarding access to and searching of the Library’s collection of print and online resources, both in-person and online;

  • Processing and allocation of reservation requests;

  • Provide support to students using the Library’s online booking systems;

  • Provide support to students via the Library’s email, chat, and phone services;

  • Provide support to students using self-check stations;

  • Troubleshooting facilities, photocopier, and IT issues as required;

  • Ensure the physical library reading room and collection are tidy;

  • Assist with the development of support materials, including guides and webpages;

  • Any other duties as required by the Library Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Excellent IT and organizational skills;

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to work on own initiative;

  • Availability to work evening shifts and weekend hours as required.

  • Flexibility to work daytime shifts

Pay & Benefits

The salary for this role is €13.50 per hour

All appointments are subject to providing proof of eligibility to work in Ireland on a full-time basis (upon being invited to interview).
