If you wish to join our team here in CEG we are seeking applications for a lecturer in Curriculum Development on our Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care in one of our four colleges, Progressive College. The ideal candidate should possess a passion for their subject and an ability to instil and encourage the same in their students.

Teaching experience is a preference for this position which is available on a part-time basis:

• Midweek face-to-face teaching

• 2 Hours teaching per week onsite in our Wicklow House Campus – Dublin 2

• Semester: February – May 2025

Module aims and objectives

Module Aims:

This module aims to give the learner an in-depth knowledge of and the appropriate skillset to developing, operating, and assessing a curriculum in an early childhood education and care setting for children from birth to six years of age.

Module Objectives:

The objectives of this module are to enable the learner to:

• Demonstrate a deep knowledge of the theory underpinning curriculum development.

• Identify and utilise the key national quality frameworks and guidelines to develop a quality child centred curriculum for children aged birth to six years.

• Design a curriculum to meet the needs of children age birth to six years.

• Understand and articulate the role of assessment in curriculum design.

• Educational Theories

• Influences on Curriculum Design

• Learning Goals / Outcomes

• Child Centred versus Child Led

• Assessment

• Individual, Group, and Service Curriculum

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:

• Subject Matter/Industry Certified/Qualified - Level 9 or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care

• Ability to Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

• Excellent Presentation, I.T. and Interpersonal skills

• Proactive approach to supporting and developing others with a demonstrate-able interest in learner employability, activation, and progression

• Previous experience delivering training

Expected start date: Classes start on the 17th of February – start date for position will be the start of February to prepare for classes.
