This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the Role:

Our department within technology is currently responsible for designing and engineering solutions for our core account systems within AIB. We are following AIB’s strategic path to simplify and consolidate our offerings, building services to expose data and enable core processing via a mix of APIs and event driven solutions.

We currently have more than 20 enthusiastic and energetic engineers across the teams, with a diverse mix of backgrounds and locations, all working towards a shared ambition of creating leading edge capability and solutions for our customers, all using the latest technologies and architectures available to us.

The role will follow AIB’s Hybrid Working Model and is remote centric. Office attendance is required for 2 days a week.

The role holder will:

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of specialists within their domain, with responsibility for delivering specific IT solutions.
  • Ensure quality criteria are adhered to for all of the project deliverables. Trains/mentors junior staff. Review other colleagues’ technical deliverables. Gives feedback to colleagues and team with a focus on succession planning and knowledge management.
  • Contribute and helps evolve the engineering landscape through the adoption of new tools and technologies, gains consensus from peers for methodology changes and adoption.
  • Have strong focus on nonfunctional quality requirements in security, performance, testability, and sustainability of technical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides technical leadership to a team of specialists within their domain with responsibility for delivering specific IT solutions.
  • Enforces best in class coding and documentation standards, and ensures quality criteria are adhered to for all of the project deliverables.
  • Be a strong and committed team player, capable of supporting a team of engineers to deliver on the banks digital strategy.
  • Contributes and helps evolve the engineering landscape through the adoption of new tools and technologies, gains consensus from peers for methodology changes and adoption.
  • Cultivates innovation, encourages diverse thinking and develops others through coaching, feedback, and exposure
  • Strong focus on nonfunctional quality requirements in security, performance, testability and sustainability of technical deliverables.

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years’ enterprise technology and experience in complex projects that span multiple teams. Core Banking and/or Payments delivery related experience would be a benefit.
  • Strong hands-on experience as a microservice developer. Specific skills to include Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST, SQL, CI/CD Tooling, JSON, XML
  • Extensive experience of Agile Methodologies.
  • Evidence of being a strong and committed team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues and strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels within the bank. Interpersonal skills - collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
