The Role:

Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business, and across the Local Authority user base. IT Value & Performance Team activities span financial management, compliance, vendor management and operational contract management. The IT Value & Performance team have a pivotal role to play in the management of IT spend and compliance with corporate policies, working closely with the wider IT teams and Business Change. 

Reporting to the IT Contracts Performance Manager, the IT Telecoms Commercial Lead will support monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the spend with UÉ’s fixed line and mobile telecoms providers to ensure that all invoices are accurate and UÉ is maximizing its value from the contracts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all Telecoms spend against budget and review all invoices from Telecoms providers.
  • Ensure all spend is aligned to the Telecoms contracts and that UÉ is getting value for money from the contracts.
  • Conduct contract review meetings with Telecoms providers.
  • Review all requests for new accounts and ensure that they align to the correct account.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for commercial aspects of new connections requests.
  • Manage any vendor escalations including resolving any invoices not being paid.
  • Ensure that all credits received from suppliers are correctly applied.
  • Provide monthly reports on telecoms spend.
  • Provide information required for audits of Telecoms contracts.
  • Ensure that contractual obligations in the Telecoms contracts including Service Level Agreements are met.
  • Collate and report on the IT Risk Register and IT Internal Controls on any relevant risks or controls.
  • Contribute to annual IT financial planning activities for IT, including formulation of overall IT financial CAPEX and OPEX budget and forecasts in collaboration with the IT Management team 
  • Track and monitor IT efficiencies and value contribution across the organisation
  • Identifying opportunities for Uisce Éireann IT cost reduction and optimisation
  • Provide transparency into IT costs across the organisation
  • Developing and maintaining relevant benchmarks for the IT organisation
  • Other duties as required from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience ideally including commercial contract management
  • Experience of Telecommunications services
  • Third level degree or other relevant qualification desirable
  • Operating in a utility company or in a regulated industry would be an advantage
  • Capable of structured analysis of data, and presentation of results across operational areas
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a strong commitment to customer service
  • Well organised, with proven time management skills and the ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • Ability to present complex, technical topics easily to others at all levels in a clear and understandable manner
  • Previous experience with initiating and maintaining strategic relationships both internally and externally, using strong influencing skills to achieve business goals 
  • A good understanding of business operations and the commercial viability and impact of technical / professional decisions on the performance of the organisation
  • Driver of high standards for individual, team and organisational accomplishment and delivering desired results

Please note the Market reference point (midpoint) of the range is generally the upper end of the offer where someone is deemed to be fully competent to take on the duties of the role, and leaves room for the employee to progress through the pay range as their experience develops further
