Information Governance Support Officer
Salary: SO1 SCP 25-27 £33,945 - £35,745 per annum pro rata
JOB PURPOSE: The corporate nature of Information Governance means that it affects all departments, and the role will involve working with all levels of staff across the organisation. The post holder will assist in the promotion of the strategic and operational importance of Information Management and with the review and improvement of systems of operation in this area. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Specific duties may include – 1. Process and coordinate request for information to include any of the access to information legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Environmental Information Regulation 2004 and Open data. 2. Provide advice and support to Council departments to enable effective compliance with access to information legislation and good practice guidance. 3. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Information Requests Database and provide data for management reports as required. 4. Coordinate Information Governance complaints including the arrangement of internal reviews and liaison with the Information Commissioner’s Office as required. 5. Assist with research, update relevant Information Governance policies, and disseminate to staff. 6. Assist the Information Governance team in the delivery and administration of relevant Information Governance training for elected members and officers. 7. Maintain awareness of evolving legislation, national guidance and good practice relating to Information Governance. 8. Prepare and coordinate the publishing of up-to-date information on Information Governance on the Council’s Intranet and Internet, liaising with the Communications Department as required. 9. Undertake Data Protection Act compliance audits in accordance with the Information Commissioner’s guidance. 10. Assist with investigations into alleged/actual breaches of the Data Protection Act and undertake reporting/remedial action as required. Maintain a log of any incidents and remedial recommendations and actions. 11. Assist in any works required to ensure Council compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation of 2018. 12. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of information asset registers and information flow maps for departments and functions as required. 13. Liaise with the Council departments to ensure all Information Governance policies are developed in line with agreed procedures and assist in the development and implementation. 14. Assist the Information Governance team in the co-ordination of Information Governance consultation exercises. 15. Facilitate internal working group meetings on Information Governance matters. 16. Attend training courses, conferences, networking events and other meetings for Information Governance-related services as appropriate. 17. Contribute to the overall development of the Monitoring Department and assist with and participate in corporate-wide working groups. 18. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Qualifications and Training • 5 GCSEs (Grades A – C) or equivalent/comparable including Mathematics and English Language. **Applicants must list all subjects, grades and level attained Experience
• Two years’ experience working in a busy office environment to include providing a range of administrative support to include: ▪ Processing documents, preparing presentations, emails using Microsoft Word & PowerPoint and Outlook ▪ Managing databases and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel & Access ▪ Maintaining, analysis and accurate trackingof records

• Understanding of Freedom of Information, Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR & Environmental Information Regulations 2004 Driving Requirements • Hold a full current driving license (valid in the UK) and have access to a form of transport or *have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to carry out the duties of the post in full.

The postholder may be required to work additional hours and outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the post.
